Always As Young As We’ll Ever Be Available January 23rd, 2026
The Lowest Pair return with “The Uncertain Seas,” the first single from their upcoming album Always As Young As We’ll Ever Be, out January 23rd. The Nashville-based Americana/folk duo of Kendl Winter and Palmer T. Lee have built a reputation for minimalist, string-heavy arrangements that highlight their distinctive vocal harmonies, and this track is no exception. Opening with warm acoustic guitar and gentle drums, Winter’s raw, emotive voice immediately draws the listener in, while Lee’s soulful harmonies provide a grounding counterpoint. Produced by Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Neko Case, My Morning Jacket), the single showcases the duo’s ability to expand their palette without losing the intimacy and sincerity that define their sound.
Lyrically, the song follows two people who care deeply for each other but struggle to connect fully. Imagery like bridges, rising rivers, and long trails turns the relationship into a journey that keeps shifting just out of reach. Winter sings about showing up with the best intentions, boots packed, heart open, yet still missing the moment where things could’ve worked.

The central lyric captures the song’s emotional core:
“I don’t want to wait any more / I don’t even know what I’m waiting for / I’m tired of settling the score / with a memory / if I wasn’t good to you it was only ’cause I didn’t know / how to give you what you need.”
It’s heartbreak without bitterness, a recognition that love sometimes slips because you didn’t yet know how to fully give it
Musically, the arrangement swells in the right places, with drums and guitars lifting the chorus while keeping the duo’s harmonies front and center. Winter’s delicate tone leads the song, and Lee’s supporting voice adds depth and texture, giving the track a sense of intimacy that feels both personal and universal.
“The Uncertain Seas” offers a first look at their first studio album in six years, which will feature 10 songs that explore the beauty of uncertainty and the grace in imperfection.
