There’s a quiet strength that runs through the work of Irish guitarist and songwriter Paul Sherry—a balance of grit and grace, fire and reflection. That balance comes fully into focus as Sherry unveils the official music video for “Peace In Mind,” the title track from his acclaimed, surprise fourth album, released earlier this year.
Premiering March 20, the video captures the same meditative pulse that defines the record itself—a project already earning widespread praise, including a four-star review from RNR Magazine (issue #115), which calls Peace In Mind a “tight, well delivered album, filled with great songs with no unnecessary frills, which infuses various classic and blues rock ideas with plenty of electric energy.” Additional coverage across Hot Press, The Irish Post, Front View Magazine, Real Rock Radio, and Belfast Telegraph has further solidified Sherry’s growing international presence.
Following 2021’s Let It Flow—a meditative rock LP that earned RTÉ Lyric FM’s ‘Album of the Week’—Peace In Mind continues along a similar path, blending rock and roots textures with moments of deep introspection. For the album, Sherry reunites with trusted collaborators Rocky O’Reilly (producer), Davy Cassidy (drums), and Paul McCabe (bass), delivering a ten-song collection marked by fresh energy and refined musicianship.
The title track itself draws inspiration from American writer and philosophical thinker Alan Watts, whose teachings on Eastern philosophy shaped the song’s central theme. As Sherry explains, “’Peace In Mind’ is a song about how everyday we can really flow creatively and emotionally, or struggle. As we all walk our own paths in life, we are all just trying to find peace in mind wherever we can.”
That philosophy is rooted in a simple but powerful idea often associated with Watts: “True serenity is found by merging with the flow of existence rather than fighting it.” It’s a concept that resonates throughout both the song and its visual counterpart.
Filmed and edited by Brendan McElroy (Pixil Media) on location in County Monaghan, the video is bathed in haze and atmosphere, reflecting a quiet, deeply human search for inner peace. The imagery mirrors the song’s emotional core—subtle, searching, and ultimately grounding.
Sherry’s journey to this moment has been anything but ordinary. An award-winning guitarist since the age of sixteen, he has become a respected force in the Irish rock ‘n’ roll scene, known for blending old-school authenticity with modern depth. His playing—rooted in blues tradition but driven by feel, dynamics, and tone—anchors a sound that is both classic and distinctly his own.
Best known as lead guitarist for the acclaimed Gráinne Duffy Band, Sherry has also built a dynamic career as a solo artist, session musician, and educator. Along the way, he has collaborated with an impressive list of international artists, including Marc Ford (The Black Crowes), Dale Davis (Amy Winehouse), Arron Sterling (John Mayer, Post Malone), Jorgen Carlsson (Gov’t Mule), Kenny Aronoff (Smashing Pumpkins), and Justin Stanley (Beck).
