About Grand County Blues Society

The Grand County Blues Society (GCBS), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, was created in 2002 to enhance the cultural life of Grand County residents while serving as a beacon for visitors who love escaping to the shadow of the Continental Divide.

Over the years, GCBS has produced twenty-one Blues Festivals and more than 285 individual blues concerts while continuing to support its primary educational and outreach programs.

Through its Check Out The Music initiative, the Grand County Blues Society has become a pioneer in blues music education, immersing school-age children across Grand County in live music experiences and performance opportunities.

Blue Star Connection (BSC), now in its twentieth year, remains one of GCBS’s most notable programs. The organization has supplied more than ninety-two children’s hospitals with musical instruments for music therapy departments and gifted personal instruments to more than 800 children.

The organization continues supporting music therapy through ongoing fundraising and outreach efforts.
