Junior Toots will celebrate the music and legacy of his father, reggae legend Toots Hibbert, with a live tribute to Toots and the Maytals on Saturday, June 27, at San Francisco’s historic Bayview Opera House.
Presented by Reggae Town Music, the all-ages show will also feature special guest Donny Rasta & JAHBUDDA! Doors open at 7 p.m., with music beginning at 8 p.m.
The evening will bring roots reggae, Caribbean culture and conscious music to the heart of San Francisco’s Bayview district. Junior Toots will perform timeless Toots and the Maytals classics alongside original music inspired by one of reggae’s most recognizable voices.
As the youngest son of Toots Hibbert, Junior Toots is proud of the musical legacy left by his father while remaining determined to establish his own path. Born and raised in St. Mary, Jamaica, he began performing at a young age and toured internationally with his father, who remained a major figure in reggae music for more than three decades.
Junior Toots has developed a growing audience through high-energy performances, soulful vocals and socially relevant lyrics. His music combines upbeat ska and reggae with the messages of love, unity and perseverance that have long shaped Jamaican music.
His recent single, “Over Hills and Valleys,” moves into Afrobeats while retaining the messages of love often found throughout reggae music.
Special guest Donny Rasta is a San Francisco Bay Area reggae artist, performer and bandleader with more than 30 years of experience in the roots and culture reggae scene. As frontman of JAHBUDDA!, he delivers energetic performances built around powerful vocals, conscious lyrics and direct audience engagement.
