Today, 2ŁØT releases “Iris,” one of the most uplifting and collaborative tracks from their forthcoming sophomore album, RE/SOLVE, arriving July 31. Featuring GRAMMY Award-winning guitarist Eric Krasno alongside horn performances from Ben Bohorquez and Evan Weiss of the acclaimed funk-jazz collective The Funky Knuckles, the new single blends soulful musicianship, infectious grooves, and heartfelt songwriting into one of the band’s most immediately joyful releases to date.
Built around a warm pulse, shimmering horns, and Krasno’s unmistakable wah-infused guitar work, “Iris” celebrates resilience, growth, and learning to recognize the beauty in someone who has overcome adversity to become their fullest self. Its chorus serves as both affirmation and revelation, reminding us that self-worth is often hardest to recognize in ourselves.
“Iris, you know how beautiful you are.”

For bassist Robert Trusko, that simple lyric became the emotional center of the entire composition.
“To me, the song’s meaning is in the line, ‘Iris, you know how beautiful you are,’” says Trusko. “It’s this idea of self-discovery and self-reflection, and learning your own potential after not knowing your own value or love.”
The song began during a week-long writing retreat at Matt Sorum’s Good Noise Studio in Palm Springs, where the band experimented with spontaneous writing sessions by rotating members through different creative pairings. Trusko and drummer Omar Jahwar II first assembled the song’s rhythmic foundation before vocalist Rudy Love Jr. unexpectedly transformed the track with an improvised verse after hearing an experimental tempo switch inspired by producer J Dilla.
“We were clowning around pretty hard,” Trusko recalls. “When Rudy heard the switch-up, he disappeared into the other room and came back with a verse almost immediately. That’s when we knew we had something.”
As the song evolved in the studio, it attracted an extraordinary lineup of collaborators. Seven-time GRAMMY Award-winning drummer Robert “Sput” Searight produced Omar Jahwar II’s drum performance, while Eric Krasno added the soulful guitar textures that define much of the song’s character.
“We sent this one to Eric Krasno, and he came back with some really cool, interesting ideas,” says Trusko. “He brought out more of the funk elements and some blues influences over the switch-up.”
“It was a joy to get on this track with the 2ŁØT crew,” says Krasno. “I love what they do, and I connected with ‘Iris’ right away. The way they blend genres feels completely natural and creates a sound that’s uniquely their own. I was honored to be a part of it.”
The groove is further elevated by Ben Bohorquez and Evan Weiss of The Funky Knuckles, whose sax and trumpet arrangements reinforce the song’s melodic hooks while expanding its jazz and funk influences.
“Iris” becomes the latest addition to an increasingly remarkable list of collaborators surrounding RE/SOLVE. Across the album, 2ŁØT is joined by three GRAMMY Award winners, including Jon Batiste, Robert Randolph, and Eric Krasno, alongside Elise Trouw, Cameron McCloud of Cure For Paranoia — fresh off winning the 2026 NPR Tiny Desk Contest — Frank Moka, Mariel Jacoda, and others. The project continues the band’s tradition of bringing together artists from across genres while maintaining a singular creative identity.
“Iris” also continues the emotional arc of RE/SOLVE, 2ŁØT’s second album and a more inward-facing follow-up to Entropy. Where Entropy examined humanity’s struggle against disorder, RE/SOLVE explores what the band calls the “Second Hero’s Journey” — the quieter process of rebuilding identity after life’s defining battles have already been fought.
“The aim is to mythologize the cyclical process of self-reflection, transformation, and self-actualization through a Campbellian archetypal lens,” shares vocalist Rudy Love Jr. “The songs are specifically written and ordered to tell a story that takes the listener on this adventure with us.”
Over the past year, 2ŁØT has steadily expanded its creative orbit through collaborations with Aloe Blacc, Steve Aoki, Paul Oakenfold, Albert Harvey, Michael Kang of The String Cheese Incident, and now Eric Krasno. Along the way, the band has landed multiple dance chart successes, performed at festivals including Treefort and Breakaway, and continued to blur the boundaries between live improvisation, electronic music, soul, funk, and hip hop.
With RE/SOLVE, 2ŁØT returns to a focused album statement — one that builds on their Electronic Jam Music foundation while embracing deeper songwriting, richer collaborations, and a more expansive musical vision.
The band will continue previewing this next chapter with select live performances and festival appearances throughout the summer. For more information and tickets, please visit www.2lot.com.
