Theo Lawrence has returned with “Today Is a Good Day,” a country-crooning original written with one of his heroes, Songwriters Hall of Fame member “Whispering” Bill Anderson.
Produced by renowned multi-instrumentalist Chris Scruggs, the raw and riveting song captures the feeling of dragging heartache around for too long. It arrives following Lawrence’s national television and Grand Ole Opry debuts and amid an extensive tour with Alison Krauss & Union Station.
“‘Today Is a Good Day’ is a song about feeling like it’s the perfect time to do something bad,” Lawrence reflects. “Pack up and leave before your heart is broken beyond repair. It was such a joy to get to write it with the help of one of my heroes, Bill Anderson.”

Raised in France and now based in Austin, Lawrence draws inspiration from classic American artists including Charlie Rich, Burt Bacharach, Carole King, Dan Penn, and Lee Hazlewood. He blends those influences with his French upbringing to create a sound where French Riviera flourishes meet the American motor lodge.
Lawrence will join Alison Krauss & Union Station for three nights at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium from September 18-20. While in Nashville, he will also perform at Paste Magazine’s party at Ole Red on September 18 and Skinny Dennis’ Texas Takeover on September 19.
