“We all go through the darkness to get to the light,” Jojo Garza tells the audience at the very beginning of the show.

There is no warm-up band, no elaborate costumes and no flashy pyrotechnics. Just three brothers from Texas sharing their love of music and their desire to spread joy. That simple formula is how Los Lonely Boys captivate an audience: straight-up music played from the heart.

Henry Garza

The three brothers, Henry (guitar, vocals), Jojo (bass, vocals) and Ringo (drums, vocals) Garza, continue the musical tradition of their father, Enrique Garza, leader of the famed Falcones. Formed in 1996, Los Lonely Boys create music that celebrates life, faith and happiness. Their fans remain fiercely loyal to a sound that welcomes everyone while staying true to the brothers’ passion and roots.

Jojo’s warm, mellow voice blends seamlessly with those of his brothers. He is also a master of the bass guitar, commanding a six-string instrument that seems to bend effortlessly to his will. The band kicks off the evening with a mix of familiar favorites and new material from its latest release. “Can’t Get No Love” arrives like a freight train, powered by Jojo’s thunderous bass lines, drawing immediate applause. Before long, the audience is on its feet for songs like “See Your Face” and “Blame It on Love.”

As the room continues to reverberate with energy, Jojo once again reflects on finding light through darkness before introducing the next song, a spirited cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Born on the Bayou.”

Henry absolutely shreds throughout the performance, giving fresh voice to the classic rock staple while remaining firmly rooted in the Los Lonely Boys style. The band notes that they were born in the barrio, which they describe as a bayou without water, only mud. As the eldest brother, Henry often emphasizes the band’s deep commitment to family and faith, themes that are woven throughout their music. Each song carries a message of virtue while mixing Spanish and English lyrics, a tribute to the brothers’ San Angelo upbringing.

The mood slows slightly with “So Sensual,” turning the room into a sea of swaying fans.

Ringo sings, but he rarely needs to speak. His drums do the talking for him.

Ringo Garza

Like most drummers, he works tirelessly throughout the 90-minute set, but Ringo takes that responsibility to another level. Not only does he drive the band’s rhythm, but he also shifts effortlessly to the congas, at times playing while holding a drumstick between his teeth. A percussionist of the highest order, he moves seamlessly between the drum kit, congas and vocal duties. He is a marvel to watch and a pleasure to hear.

By this point, the band has slipped into full jam mode, treating the audience to a display of remarkable musicianship. The grooves keep flowing as patrons dance in the aisles. The beautiful Blue Gate Performing Arts Center boasts some of the most comfortable seats in the Midwest, but on this night they are barely used as the music keeps the crowd moving.

Like every successful band, Los Lonely Boys have a few songs that fans eagerly anticipate. The moment Henry launches into the opening notes of “Oye Mamacita,” the audience erupts and sings along. The band follows with the emotionally rich “Velvet Sky” and “Nobody Else.” When one fan jokingly asks if they will play “Oye Mamacita” again, Jojo laughs it off. When your music inspires that level of enthusiasm, however, it’s easy to understand why fans always want more.

Los Lonely Boys put on a tremendous show, and there may be no better venue to experience it than the Blue Gate PAC. The staff is consistently welcoming, and the venue continues to attract top-tier talent while offering a modern, clean and comfortable concert experience.

But the time has finally come for the band’s signature hit.

As the opening notes of “Heaven” ring out, the crowd rises as one. The band delivers a powerful and heartfelt rendition, turning the theatre into a celebration of music, memory and connection.

It has been an evening filled with joy, inspiration and exceptional musicianship. If you’re new to Los Lonely Boys, their music is readily available on every major platform. But do yourself a favor and see them live. They bring much more than music to the stage.

They bring happiness.
