Funk, bluegrass and a Halloween nod to Phish lead the upcoming calendar at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom and The Other Side in Denver. The Motet closes out October with a two-night run, Shadowgrass brings two nights to The Other Side, and Runaway Gin celebrates Halloween with a three-set Phish tribute that includes a mystery album cover set.
The week begins tonight, October 20, with BALTHVS and Gio Chamba. Another highlight for listeners drawn to live instrumental interplay arrives October 22, when Fonville Fribush Organ Trio shares The Other Side’s bill with THIS IS A REMINDER featuring Parris Fleming.
Halloween weekend offers several ways to settle in for a run of shows. Shadowgrass plays The Other Side on October 29 and 30, followed by The Motet’s October 30 and 31 dates. On Halloween itself, Runaway Gin brings the Phish tradition of musical surprises to The Other Side, with three sets and an album-cover performance whose identity remains under wraps.
The electronic calendar is equally busy. The Glitch Mob headlines a 360-degree, in-the-round edition of SHIFT Thursday on October 22, while A Hundred Drums and Zen Selekta lead SHIFT’s fifth anniversary party October 29. Other upcoming nights feature Goopsteppa, Com Truise, Hairitage and Daft Disko Halloween.
