Warren “Addis” Smith is a singer, songwriter, and performer native to the Virgin Islands who began his musical life when he joined his high school Steel Orchestra. After finding success in the Virgin Islands, Addis moved to the mainland to take his career to the next level and beyond by joining The New Horizons Band / Hot Like Fire. As a solo artist, he has performed at and shared the stage with the likes of The Harlem Pop Ensemble, New York Multi Cultural Festival, The Mighty Sparrow, Berkley Music Ensemble, Mutabaruka, Jimmy Cliff, Burning Spear, Toots, Ziggy and Stephen Marley, Andrew Tosh, Black Uhuru, Junior Reed and many others. When not on stage performing, Addis is a Host / Co-Host for some of the area's biggest and greatest events: The Charlemont Reggae Festival, The Hartford Jerk Festival, and The River Front Music Festival.
Following the success of his third solo album No Compromise – which garnered three Grammy Award Ballot considerations - he formed The Addis Revolution in 2012. Their 2013 single “People of the World” found heavy radio rotation in Jamaica and Canada, which was followed by the 2015 single “Beautiful Thing”. 2017 saw the release of The Great Escape EP, which garnered an additional three Grammy Award Ballot considerations, two in the “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" category as well as one for “Best Pop Vocal Album”
Paradise is a whirlwind of Caribbean influences, all focused through the granular mind of Sir Addis. Details become sweeping statements, and the big picture becomes not just planetary, but universal. Songs about growing up, falling in love, surviving, and even the End of the World sit side by side in elegance and grace. It’s all held together by a voice that is as compelling as it is commanding.
