The internationally celebrated Colombian trio BALTHVS announces Manifest, an ambitious new album and vinyl release, alongside a major U.S. headline tour this fall as they continue their rise from underground psych favorites to one of the global scene's most compelling live acts.
Following the release of “Eternal Flow,” a hypnotic and emotionally resonant preview of their forthcoming album, the Colombian trio today announces their new single, “Liminal Stages,” via Mixto Records. Listen here.
The new single is off their upcoming album, Manifest, an eleven-track statement arriving later this year on vinyl and digital formats. Coupled with a newly announced U.S. tour, the new release further solidifies BALTHVS as one of the most popular independent psychedelic-rock acts to emerge from Latin America.
A meditation on transition, transformation, and the spaces between destinations, “Liminal Stages” captures BALTHVS at their most adventurous. Guitarist and producer Balthazar Aguirre comments, “Liminal Stages was inspired by alot of the video games and the general optimist outlook of the late 90s, where everything looked futuristic and hopeful for the future. In trying to make a better future for ourselves, and to also recapture that moment in time, we tried to create that sound within BALTHVS' existing sonic world.”
The track seamlessly blends hypnotic grooves, expansive guitar textures, deep-pocket rhythms, and the intuitive chemistry that has become the band's hallmark. The result offers the listener an early glimpse into the adventurous scope that is Manifest.
Over the past several years, BALTHVS has quietly become one of the most celebrated psychedelic exports from Latin America. The trio has amassed more than 140 million streams, performed in over 26 countries, earned a Libera Awards nomination, and appeared at major festivals including Electric Forest, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, Jam Cruise, and SXSW Sydney.
At the center of the band's continued ascent is the dynamic interplay between guitarist and producer Balthazar Aguirre, bassist Johanna Mercuriana, and drummer Santiago Lizcano. Together, they create music that thrives on spontaneity and connection, transforming each performance into a unique experience that evolves night after night.
Manifest marks a pivotal chapter for BALTHVS, shaped in part by the return of bassist Johanna Mercuriana following the birth of her first child. After stepping away from the band's demanding touring schedule to focus on motherhood, Mercuriana reunited with Aguirre and Lizcano in the Colombian countryside, where the trio began writing what would become their fifth studio album. Bringing fresh perspective, renewed energy, and what the band describes as a creative renaissance, her return helped spark a new era of collaboration that runs throughout the record. Alongside the band's signature psychedelic grooves, Manifest ventures into previously unexplored territory, incorporating elements of drum and bass, a more rock-driven approach, and Ethio-jazz influences, resulting in BALTHVS' most adventurous and sonically expansive work to date.
While Transmutations served as a reflection of BALTHVS' evolution on the road, capturing the improvisational spirit and sonic transformations born from hundreds of live performances, Manifest turned inward. Written and developed primarily in the studio, the album embraces intentional creation over reinterpretation, channeling the band's collective growth into eleven entirely new compositions. Their most focused and expansive statement to date: a record that transforms years of touring experience into fresh musical possibilities while expanding their sound beyond psychedelic rock into a broader universe.
To celebrate the release of “Liminal Stages,” BALTHVS has announced an extensive run of North American and international dates, including appearances at All Good Now, Sawtooth Valley Gathering, Zootown Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Release Athens, Festival d'été de Québec, Kulture Festival in Switzerland, and a series of headline performances across the U.S. and Canada. The fall dates will bring the band to major markets including Austin, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and more.
With “Liminal Stages,” BALTHVS continue to push their sound forward while embracing the adventurous spirit that has fueled their rise to a global touring phenomenon. The single is out now via Mixto Records on all streaming platforms.
