Goose launched their highly anticipated 2025 Fall Tour last night with a celebratory performance at Burlington, VT’s scenic Waterfront Park. The evening held special resonance, marking drummer Cotter Ellis’ return to his home state and bassist Trevor Weekz’s alma mater city, where he attended the University of Vermont. Against the backdrop of a Lake Champlain sunset, Goose ignited the tour with a jam-heavy two-set journey.
The band opened with “My Mind Has Been Consumed By Media,” a nod to Ellis’ roots with his former band Swimmer. A glowing “A Western Sun” captured the golden-hour light before the band segued into a standout “Rockdale,” a selection from recently released studio album Chain Yer Dragon. In classic Goose fashion, the tune expanded into “Atlas Dogs” and back again, before welcoming special guests to the stage: Burlington soul vocalist Kat Wright, guitarist Bob Wagner, and bassist Josh Weinstein, who together elevated The Wood Brothers’ “Atlas.” A high-energy “Draconian Meter Maid” (another Swimmer cut) kept momentum surging, before a fiery “Flodown” capped the set.
Second set showcased Goose’s improvisational muscle with a four-song odyssey. “Arrow” launched expansive, unfinished improvisation that gave way to the intrepid “Travelers.”Funk-laced “Thatch” melted seamlessly into the emotional core of “This Old Sea,” only to thunder back into the climactic close of “Thatch.”
Goose returned to encore with “Tumble,” folding in a raucous nod to Otis Day & The Knights’ “Shama Lama Ding Dong” before closing the night with the lightning-strike ending of “Tumble.”
Tour continues this week with a marquee co-headline at Madison, WI’s Kohl Center alongside Americana luminaries Mt. Joy, followed by stops in Michigan and Chicago to close the week. Tickets for all remaining 2025 dates are available now at goosetheband.com.
