About The Grass Daddies

Founded in 2023 by Texas singer-songwriter Garre LaGrone, The Grass Daddies carry forward a family tradition of Bluegrass. LaGrone’s grandfather, Jake LaGrone, was a cotton farmer and old-time Texas fiddler whose music made a lasting impression. Other influences include Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Roy Acuff, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Ricky Skaggs, among many legends of traditional Country and Bluegrass.

Garre began playing in local bands as a teenager and later moved to Nashville, where he wrote for Lorrie Morgan’s publishing company and co-wrote with hitmakers like Wynn Varble and Jill Wood. Returning to Texas in the mid-90s, he turned his focus to family and faith, penning Gospel and Christian Country songs including “Hallelujah, He’s Alive!” which reached #17 on the Christian Country Charts.

In 2018, a chance spin of SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction reignited LaGrone’s lifelong love for Bluegrass, inspiring him to write and record again in his home studio. That spark became The Grass Daddies—a project dedicated to authentic, roots-driven music that speaks to the values of faith, family, and country.
