Following the band’s biggest year since forming in 2000, Greensky Bluegrass has confirmed its plans for a New Year’s Eve run of shows in its home state of Michigan, performing two nights at the Majestic Theater in Detroit December 30 and 31. Having performed at a cadre of the nation’s top festivals in the wake of the summer including Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, The Hangout Festival, All Good Festival, Northwest String Summit & many more, the band’s Fall Tour is unfolding with scores of dates from the East to West Coasts.

Highlighting the remainder of 2011, the band is set to release its fourth studio CD, Handguns, on October 4 with a hometown CD Release Party at Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo. October finishes with four Colorado shows topped off with a special Halloween event at Boulder’s Fox Theatre with a ‘Totally Bitchin 80s’ theme. A West Coast co-headlining tour with Hot Buttered Rum in November is followed up with year-ending December tour in the Midwest before the NYE shows in Detroit. New Year’s Eve single-night and a limited amount of discounted, two-night tickets go on sale October 7.
