Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul, the acclaimed full-length documentary exploring the life and work of the late Gregg Allman, is set for more than 40 one-night-only screenings at venues across the United States.
The roadshow presentations begin September 1 and will take place in venues ranging from the 70-capacity Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon, Georgia, to the 4,500-capacity Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The screenings will give fans an opportunity to experience the film on the big screen with professional, high-fidelity sound systems.
The idea for the roadshow screenings came together when lead producer Michael Lehman told Northstar Artists agency owner Kevin Daly that he wanted the film to be seen by as many people as possible in honor of his longtime friend and client, Gregg Allman.
With that in mind, Lehman and Daly decided to offer the documentary to performing arts centers, rock clubs, casinos, outdoor venues, and theaters of all sizes. Because of the nature of the film, they believe Allman Brothers Band fans and music lovers will want to experience it in venues that, in many cases, previously presented live performances by Allman, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe, or the Allman Brothers Band.
Presenters will also have opportunities to add introductions and post-screening question-and-answer sessions with director James Keach, lead producer Michael Lehman, and appropriate musical guests.
Q&A sessions with Lehman are confirmed for several screenings, including Aspen, Colorado; Tarrytown, New York; South Orange, New Jersey; and Mohegan Sun. Keach will speak at the San Francisco screening at the Presidio Theatre, while both Lehman and Keach are scheduled to appear at the October 20 screening at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas.
Additional screenings will be announced monthly and will continue worldwide through December 8, 2027, which would have marked Allman’s 80th birthday.
Two dollars from every ticket sold for the screenings will benefit the Gregg Allman Scholarship Funds or a local charitable organization dedicated to supporting live music.
