Noah Kahan Debuts at #1 on Billboard 200 with The Great Divide

With one of the year’s biggest and most defining album releases, 2x GRAMMY®-nominated, multi-platinum global superstar Noah Kahan officially earns his first-ever #1 album in the U.S., as The Great Divide (Mercury Records) debuts atop the Billboard 200 Chart with the biggest streaming debut of 2026. The achievement marks a career-defining milestone, with 389,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week and delivering one of the most significant and critically acclaimed album debuts of the year.

Not to mention, The Great Divide achieved the biggest week for a rock album since the Billboard 200 began measuring by units in December 2014, and it also claims the biggest vinyl sales week for a rock album in the modern era, since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991.

Further solidifying Kahan’s global dominance, The Great Divide topped album charts worldwide, debuting at #1 in the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, and Switzerland—marking the biggest debut for an international artist in the U.K. this year.

In addition, Kahan’s 2022 breakout album, Stick Season, catapulted back into the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Chart this week.

Kahan thanks his fans, saying, “An album with mostly 5 minute songs doesn’t go number one very often, but because I have the greatest, smartest, most dedicated fans in the world, you guys have given me a number one fucking album. Insanity. We did it together, and I’ll keep going as long as you’ll have me. Love you all.”

Upon release, The Great Divide dominated streaming platforms worldwide, debuting at #1 on Spotify’s U.S. and Global Album Charts as well as iTunes, Apple Music, and Apple Music Alternative Charts. The album swept the entire Top 10 on both the Spotify U.S. and Global Songs Debut Charts, while every song from the record debuted across Spotify charts in major global markets including Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand––underscoring its massive global impact. Leading the charge, standout track “Doors” claimed the #1 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs in the U.S., as Kahan simultaneously topped Spotify’s Top Artists Chart in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Ireland. Meanwhile, the title track continues its historic run at radio, with a 11-week consecutive run at #1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Chart––the longest of the past decade.

Rapidly emerging as a contender for “Album Of The Year,” see what critics are saying about The Great Divide above.

The Great Divide was produced by acclaimed producer and Stick Season collaborator Gabe Simon (Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey, Koe Wetzel) and GRAMMY®-winning producer Aaron Dessner (Taylor Swift, Bon Iver). Following the album’s release, Kahan surprised fans with an extended version, The Great Divide: The Last Of The Bugs, arriving less than 24 hours after the original album and featuring four additional tracks.

This week, Kahan will make a series of television appearances, beginning with an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers tomorrow night. Then on Saturday, May 9th, he will return to Saturday Night Live to perform as the musical guest alongside host and fellow New Englander Matt Damon, marking his first appearance on the show since his 2023 debut.

Kahan will bring The Great Divide on the road beginning this summer on his highly anticipated The Great Divide World Tour. With over 1.5 million tickets sold to date, the tour will kick off with a sold-out stadium run across North America in June before heading to Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Europe this fall. The North American leg includes four record-breaking nights at Boston’s Fenway Park—making Kahan the first artist in history to play and sell out four consecutive shows at the iconic venue. Due to overwhelming global demand, additional arena dates have been added in London, Dublin, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland and are on sale now. See the full list of tour dates HERE.
