Ruby Dice Announces New Album Take Me Back, Out August 28

Award-winning Austin Americana artist, bassist, and bandleader Ruby Dice will release her new album, Take Me Back, on August 28, 2026, via Gitcha Records. Rooted in Americana, country, blues, and rock, the album is both a deeply personal collection of songs and a heartfelt tribute to the Austin musicians and community that have shaped her career.

The album’s first single, “Dress to Impress,” featuring Shinyribs, is available now. The second single, “Little Big Town,” featuring Nakia, will be released on July 29. Additional focus tracks include “Stories.”

Voted Best Bassist in Austin by the Austin Chronicle, Dice has earned a reputation as one of the city's most respected collaborators while carving out her own distinctive voice as a songwriter. Originally from Gunnison, Colorado, she blends Colorado grit with Texas soul, creating music that is honest, heartfelt, and unmistakably Austin. Her career is rooted in fearless songwriting, exceptional musicianship, and meaningful collaboration, whether fronting her own band or supporting fellow artists.

Produced by the Ruby Dice Band and recorded at Buds Recording Services, Take Me Back showcases the chemistry of one of Austin’s finest musical communities. Ruby's touring band features Ruby Dice on bass and vocals, Calloway Ritch on guitar, Jeff Sanders on drums and percussion, David Thacker on keys, and Simon Paige on pedal steel.

The album also features special guest appearances by acclaimed Austin artists including Suzanna Choffel, Shinyribs, Nakia, Jordan Matthew Young, Grey Horse, Scott Strickland, Sean McHargue, Garrett Jay Brown, and Sophia Johnson, highlighting the collaborative spirit that defines Austin's vibrant music scene.

“The record became something much bigger than an album," says Dice. “It’s really a snapshot of the incredible music community that's lifted me up over the years. Every collaboration represents a friendship, a late-night jam, or someone who believed in me along the way.”

Ruby’s own story is as compelling as her music. She went from cleaning toilets in a small-town Colorado hardware store at age 11 to becoming one of Austin’s most sought-after bass players, sharing stages with legendary artists including Brian Wilson and recording early in her career alongside members of Band of Heathens. Today, she leads her own band while continuing to collaborate with many of Austin's most celebrated musicians.

Engineered and mixed by Sam Patlove and mastered by Andrew Hernandez, Take Me Back captures the warmth, authenticity, and collaborative spirit that have become hallmarks of Ruby Dice's music.

An official hometown album release show is scheduled for August 29 at The 04 Center in Austin. The evening will feature a premiere documentary screening before the show, along with special guest appearances from many of the collaborators featured on the album.
