Jazz-rock icon Stanley Jordan will celebrate Valentine’s Day with friends at Berkeley Chapel of the Flowers on February 14, 2027. For this Bay Area homecoming, Stanley and Friends will perform interpretations of music by the Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix, as well as original jazz-rock jams.
Four-time Grammy-nominated guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan has consistently displayed a chameleonic musical persona of openness, imagination, versatility and maverick daring. Instead of picking and strumming, he taps the strings against the fretboard with both hands, which lets him play a melody and an accompaniment at the same time, the way a pianist would. His music transcends genre, and his approach breathes fresh life into familiar material.
His unconventional style made him a favorite of Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh; he performed with Phil & Friends over a 12-year span, including Phil's final public appearance in 2024.
Stanley will be joined for the Berkeley show by beloved Bay Area keyboardist Scott Guberman (Phil & Friends), East Coast legend Greg Koerner (Gent Treadly, formerly with Vince Welnick and Dark Star Orchestra) on bass, and a very special surprise drummer to be announced.
