Marcus Rezak's SHRED IS DEAD brings its high-energy, unique take on the Grateful Dead songbook to a storybook century-old chapel in Berkeley for a Sunday Funday celebration on September 13.
Presented by Mr. Hat Presents, the Deadhead Sunday Matinee will feature two sets of Marcus Rezak's Shred Is Dead at the Chapel of the Flowers, located at 3049 Adeline Street in Berkeley. Doors open at 1 p.m., with the first set beginning at 2 p.m.
All are welcome at the community space, and the afternoon will also include a post-show social hour for guests 21 and over hosted by CBCB Dispensary.
SHRED IS DEAD is a high-octane project led by guitarist and vocalist Marcus Rezak, offering innovative instrumental and vocal performances of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band songbooks. The group is known for its “shreddy jams” and an all-star rotating lineup of musicians from the jam band scene.
For this special Berkeley performance, Rezak will be joined by Bay Area stalwarts Scott Guberman and Anna Elva, with the complete lineup still to be announced.
There will be no opener, with two full sets of Shred Is Dead planned for the afternoon.
Attendees can grab lunch and drinks at the adjacent Ashby Eatery and bring them into the show. The Chapel of the Flowers sits directly across from Ashby BART on Adeline Street and offers ample nearby parking.
Following the music, CBCB Dispensary will host a social hour on the patio.
Limited reserved seating and Gold Circle seating are available in advance.
Earlybird GA tickets are $18, general presale tickets are $23, and tickets at the door are $25 cash. Limited Reserved Seats are $35, while Gold Circle VIP Seats are $50, including fees.
The Chapel of the Flowers is a 101-year-old chapel known for its distinctive setting and acoustics, giving the afternoon an unusual backdrop for two sets of Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band music.
