Chicago roots-rock quartet The Empty Pockets showcase the improvisational side of their music in a live performance of “Eat the Rich,” recorded in Glasgow. The extended performance gives guitarist and vocalist Josh Solomon, keyboardist and vocalist Erika Brett, bassist and vocalist Nate Bellon, and drummer Adam Balasco room to explore the song beyond its studio boundaries.

Built around guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and three-part harmonies, The Empty Pockets have developed an intuitive musical connection through years on the road together. The band has performed more than 1,000 shows and toured alongside artists including Kenny Loggins, Simon Kirke and Al Stewart, also serving as Stewart’s backing band.
The Empty Pockets will release their new album, Dear Billionaires, on October 23. The band recorded the instrumental performances together inside Abbey Road’s historic Studio Two, bringing the spontaneous interaction of its live shows into the recording process.
The forthcoming album follows a run of independent releases that includes two No. 1 albums on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart. While the group’s music moves among blues, Americana, folk, soul and rock ’n’ roll, its three-part vocal harmonies and road-tested ensemble playing remain at the center.
