Where are today’s groovy horn bands? Growing up listening to Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago, and Tower of Power, I’ve noticed a gap in today’s music for a funky, hard-hitting horn section. Well, tonight the horns are back with a vengeance at Bell’s as they host two up-and-coming bands: Flexadecibel and Desmond Jones.
The Constitution State quartet Eggy performed at the Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia, PA, on Friday, April 25, 2025, as part of their Here and How 2025 Tour. This was their first show at the jam-band–friendly venue in the City of Brotherly Love, which is located in the fun Fishtown neighborhood. They hadn’t played for a couple of weeks but showed no signs of rust as they brought the heat to a diverse crowd.
MerleFest, presented by Window World, wrapped up its 37th annual celebration with a romp-roaring tribute to the music and community that folk icon Doc Watson championed throughout his life. Camper Van Beethoven packed The Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco on Saturday night to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Telephone Free Landslide Victory, their debut album.
