That is what jazz is all about. Starting the modern era in the Southern U.S. as the blues, jazz is not tied to a strict format but changes as the mood moves the performer. That is the most endearing part of jazz music: its adaptability.

The venue is picture-perfect, with a beautiful river flowing through the site. Year after year, I ask myself how the Adirondack Independence Music Festival (ADK) in the heart of Lake George, NY, is going to level up, topping themselves with an inevitable smokin’ hot lineup announcement… and that’s just what they did. On July 14, Woody’s only known recording of his original song “Deportee (Woody’s Home Tape)” was released as a single. “Deportee (Woody’s Home Tape)” (also known as “Plane Wreck at Los Gatos”) was originally written in 1948 in response to a New York Times article about a plane crash in Los Gatos Canyon, California, that killed 32 people, including 28 migrant farm workers.
