Jamestown Revival have made the quietest record of their career with Young Man, yet it may resonate the most. Recorded in their home state of Texas, it is their first project without electric guitars, with the emphasis instead on skillful songwriting, flawless harmony, and intricate fingerpicking. In addition, it’s the first time that bandmates Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance have created an album with a producer—in this case, Robert Ellis, a fellow Texan and a recording artist in his own right.

Two young men playing authentic original blues, the one-chord trance drone chanting form that preceded what most folks think of as the traditional 12 bar/ AAB lyric structures, might seem like a musical anachronism. "Time" is pretty special, I think it's kind of Norman's thesis statement for his new album Day by Day, coming Oct 22 on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. It's got a deep biblical feel to it, basically it's his musings on time and his long love of the American past. Have a listen and more info on the album below. The new song is out now across all streaming platforms.
