When Relix magazine announced the The Contribution’s debut record, Which Way World (2010), and called them a “jamband supergroup,” they also recognized, “the band serves the songs first and foremost.” Although the band is comprised of some of the scene’s heavy hitters, the first listen to their music reveals their love of 60s pop and soul coupled with their ability to flat-out shred. Celebrating its 19th year in 2019, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass will return to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on October 4-6. The festival, founded by Warren Hellman in 2001 as a musical gift to the people of San Francisco and the world, celebrates American “roots” music and its many outgrowths. Each year, hundreds of thousands of music fans from around the globe flock to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass to do exactly that—celebrate.
Following recent U.S. dates which wrapped July 20 in Los Angeles, singer, songwriter and musician RICKIE LEE JONES is planning another run of shows before she heads to Europe for shows in the fall. The latest shows kick off October 7 in Asheville, NC and wrap October 23 in Minnesota.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to share my very first Northwest String Summit experience with you all. I will do my best to honor this festival’s long history, while explaining my first experience, not only with this festival but at Horning's Hideout. This festival is in its 18th year here in Oregon, and it’s hard to think of another festival in such a serene location. That’s a whole generation of people growing up in this festival, which is something very unique and beautiful.
It’s that time of year again! Musikfest! If you’re new to the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Music Festival, it’s the largest free music festival in the country. This festival is not just about the music, it’s also about community and of course the many food options.
On August 1st, Musikfest will kick off with a preview night at The Windcreek Steel Stage with the legendary group, Earth Wind & Fire. Adding to the fun on the first night are local favorites, The Groove Merchants and Post Junction.

In honor of their third annual On The Ocean Weekend, renowned rock band Guster is partnering with Westbrook, Maine’s Mast Landing Brewing Company to produce ‘On The Ocean 2019: A Summertime Pale Ale’. The beer will launch at the brewery on Friday, August 9th and will be available all weekend at Guster’s concerts and at select bars and restaurants throughout Portland.
The 35th Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival had many highlights, most notably the omnipresence of the hottest talent on the Bluegrass circuit, Billy Strings.
However, one of the main "subplots" that many wondered about was the status of "The Grateful Ball" given the recent, sudden and tragic passing of mandolin genius and original Grateful Ball participant, Jeff Austin.
