From junior high school on, Jeff Otto had a guitar in his hand and a gig to go to, everything from power trios to cover bar bands to coffee house solo gigs and “anything in between.”  But when his first child was born, he stopped gigging and made up for it with a weekly jam session that began to yield songs.  “We were doing some gypsy music, an improvisational mixture of stuff.  It was really east meets west.  Boris sounded east and Garcia west and so we chose the name Boris Garcia.”

Grammy-winning progressive bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters and nonprofit Rooster Walk Inc. are teaming up this fall to create The Infamous Weekend, a two-day, family friendly “mini-fest” at Pop’s Farm in Martinsville, Va.

Luna del Lago, a new three-day music and camping festival taking place Nov. 3-5, 2023 at Pleasant Harbor in Peoria, Ariz., today announced their music lineup, which includes Spafford, Monophonics, Ballyhoo!, The Brothers Comatose, Arise Roots, Black Joe Lewis, Sensi Trails with Kyle Rising, The Black Moods and others.

The Drive-By Truckers will release The Complete Dirty South on June 16, 2023, via New West Records. Originally released in 2004 to wide acclaim, The Dirty South explores the mean highways and dark hollers of what the band called the “Mythological South,” a tornado-ravaged landscape populated by bootleggers and small-time criminals, everyday folks just scraping to get by and looming icons like Sam Phillips, John Henry, and Sheriff Buford Pusser.

Dropkick Murphys put down their acoustic guitars and return to the road this fall for a run of full electric shows joined by The Interrupters and opener Jesse Ahern. The tour kicks off September 27 at the Maine Savings Amphitheatre in Bangor, Maine. Today, two-time folk Grammy nominee Eliza Gilkyson is sharing the first single, the "brightly ethereal" (Folk Alley) "Safety Zone, from her new album, Home, set for released June 23 on her own imprint, Realiza Records. Premiering today, the song came about after a bad accident Eliza suffered at last year's Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.
