Downtown New Haven never feels quite as alive as it does in June, and this year the pulse is louder than ever. The International Festival of Arts & Ideas has returned to the Green for its thirtieth season, unfurling two full weeks of music, theater, dance, food and fierce conversation that together reveal a city in constant, creative motion.

Bluesville Records, the hub for all things blues from Craft Recordings, is pleased to return two long-out-of-print classics to vinyl: Furry Lewis’ Back on My Feet Again (1961)—captured in the initial years of the singer-songwriter and guitarist’s career revival—and 1959’s Memphis Slim at the Gate of Horn, recorded not long before the influential pianist, singer, and songwriter left Chicago for Paris.

The Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra (CJRO) is set to unveil its most ambitious and soulful project yet—“Golden Lady,” a genre-defying album that showcases the power, passion, and virtuosity of featured vocalist Tatiana LadyMay Mayfield. Infused with deep gospel roots, modern R&B, and explosive big-band jazz energy, Golden Lady is a groove-forward, joy-filled celebration of songwriting, artistic collaboration, and the ever-evolving sound of contemporary jazz.

The Wood Brothers have announced a 17-date U.S. tour this fall in support of their forthcoming studio album Puff Of Smoke, due August 1 via Honey Jar/Thirty Tigers. The tour begins November 6 at the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, TN, and makes stops across the Midwest throughout November, with performances at Old Forester’s Paristown Hall in Louisville, KY, Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis, MN, and Riviera Theatre in Chicago, IL.

Six decades after the Grateful Dead’s first notes echoed across the San Francisco Peninsula, Deadheads everywhere will reunite under the silver-screen glow for the annual “Meet-Up At The Movies.” This year’s cinematic gathering features the triumphant return of THE GRATEFUL DEAD MOVIE—the 1977 concert film revered for its electrifying Winterland performances, psychedelic animation, and candid behind-the-scenes interviews with the band and crew.

Dazzling the crowd with dreamy vocals, deft usage of an incredible array of instruments, spontaneously created loops, and a whole lot of passion, Australian singer-songwriter superstar Tash Sultana held the audience spellbound on June 11 at Hard Rock Live - Sacramento at Fire Mountain.

This Saturday, the Hudson River Music Festival took over Croton Point Park for a full day of live music, family activities, celebration and outdoor fun. Presented by Riverfest FPS (For Pete’s Sake), Dayglo Presents, and Harper House Music Foundation and rooted in the spirit of Toshi and Pete Seeger’s folk picnics, the new festival brought together music lovers, environmental advocates, and families for a vibrant celebration.
