After the warm reception of her 2024 debut Home Away From Home, singer-songwriter Kaitlin Cassady returns with her luminous second full-length, North Star — out October 24, 2025. The album reveals an artist unafraid to wade into the depths of emotion, balancing fragility with fearless honesty and weaving her jazz background into the tender heart of her indie-folk sound.
Written and recorded over the past five years in home studios between California and Minnesota, North Star feels like a personal constellation — a map of loss, resilience, and rediscovery. The record is both intimate and expansive, its stripped-down production highlighting Kaitlin’s ethereal vocals and poetic candor. From the hushed ache of “Melancholy Daydreams” to the luminous pulse of “Golden Hour,” each song draws listeners into her orbit.
At the center of North Star lies Kaitlin’s gift for emotional architecture — jazz-tinged piano chords and intricate harmonies supporting stories that shimmer between shadow and light. The arrangements are minimalist but richly layered, with Kaitlin performing nearly every instrument herself, joined by Paul Cassady on bass and Milo Weil on cello and violin. Together, they crafted a sonic palette that’s warm, cinematic, and unflinchingly human. The album was co-mixed and mastered by Kaitlin and Paul Cassady.
“These songs came from learning how to sit with my grief long enough to find something beautiful in it,” Kaitlin shares. “North Star became a kind of guide — a reminder that healing isn’t linear, but it’s always moving toward the light.”
