Mr. Hat Presents welcomes Marcus Rezak’s high-octane Grateful Dead tribute, Shred Is Dead, to “Grateful Monday” at the Ivy Room (860 San Pablo Ave, Albany, CA 94706). Music starts at 7:00 PM.

An eminent force in modern guitar, Marcus Rezak is a true road warrior—logging 200+ headlining shows across the U.S. each year—and a dynamic bandleader equally at home with original compositions and his celebrated tribute projects. In addition to Shred Is Dead, Rezak recently launched Gumbo, a deep-cut homage to Phish’s 1.0 era performed on an authentic ’90s rig featuring Languedoc guitars and coveted gear associated with Trey Anastasio.

Rezak’s studio and stage credentials are extensive, including collaborations with GRAMMY-winning producer Paul Nelson (Johnny Winter, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy), Kris Myers and Joel Cummins (Umphrey’s McGee), Ike Willis and Arthur Barrow (Frank Zappa), Erik Lawrence (Little Feat), and many more. Renowned for a commanding stage presence, he channels the euphoric freedom of live music into focused, peak-energy performances—creating space for his bands to push, stretch, and soar.

For this Bay Area throw-down, SHRED IS DEAD delivers a high-energy spin on the Grateful Dead songbook—full of adventurous, “shreddy” jams—with the Bay Area’s own Anna Elva, the dancing drummer, behind the kit. Special surprise guests will be announced soon.
