Straddling a fence is a position few if any people like to find themselves in, each foot planted in opposition. Bobby Long has found himself a flourishing home in this middle ground however, a point not of indecision but of movement and change from a solo musician to recording and performing with a full band.

Just by the looks of the stage before any performers stepped foot on it, it was obvious that the evening’s music would be substantial. In addition to the usual drum set, keyboard station, guitar stands, and microphones, there was also an accordion, an upright bass lying on its side, lone floor toms set up next to three of the stations, a guitar rack complete with acoustic and electric axes, mandolin, lute, dobro and banjo, and random shakers sprawled about.

Furthur is back in Broomfield, Colorado's 1st Bank Center less than 1 year since the opening of the refurbished arena.   With Furthur's arrival came the start of a lovely weekend both for the weather and for the lots of friends in town to catch some of the first shows of 2011.

Keller Williams rolled into Chicago a little early for his February 5th 2011 shows.  He had to make time to get to the Chicago Children’s Museum, the American Girl Doll mega store, and all the while celebrating his birthday.

Toronto-based Dinosaur Bones are prepping the release of their debut LP, My Divider, on March 8th, 2011 via Dine Alone Records. In advance of the release of the album, the band has made it available for select press. Following the success of their recent Birthright EP, the band received a great deal of accolades in their native Canada. Now comes their return with the next chapter in their story. Dinosaur Bones are giving away the song “Royalty” from the album for free.

Multifaceted singer/songwriter/musician Drew Emmitt appears to have finally found the right balance of music in his life.  Not only is the co-founder of jamgrass pioneers Leftover Salmon entering his 22nd year fronting that band, but he is busy at work with his other project, The Emmitt-Nershi Band

Sugar Hill Records is excited to announce that they will be releasing a trio of Nickel Creek titles on deluxe vinyl - exclusively for Record Store Day, Saturday April 16th.  The titles include Nickel Creek’s now Platinum certified debut, Nickel Creek, the GRAMMY award winning This Side, and their final Sugar Hill release, Why Should The Fire Die?.

On February 8th hyperactive punk/funk/ska legends Fishbone will embark on a 25 date cross-country tour including stops at the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins (Feb 10) and Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom  in Denver (Feb 11).

I left the Boulder Theater with both ears ringing thoroughly and my head in a satiated state of buzz, and in fact I was bone sober (as far as intoxicants are concerned).
