What better way to get rid of that winter blues then to bring in the summer with one of the best festivals of the the season? In just over a week, for Memorial day weekend, Dark Star Orchestra gathers the best of the Midwest for a Jubilee.
On the heels of the success of the Aiken Bluegrass Festival’s 2013 spring event the festival will return to Aiken this spring on May 9th and 10th, 2014. With an eclectic mix of traditional and progressive bluegrass, the 10th annual Aiken Bluegrass Festival promises to be the most exciting year to date. “What defines us as an event is our knack for booking bands that enjoy sharing the stage; friends who happily sit in on each other’s sets” says event director, Christian Schaumann.
Bluegrass, world, reggae, funk and jam are all coming to Camp Euphoria XI (CEXI) this summer. It’s one-festival, two-days, for all-ages, July 11-12, 2014 on “Jerry’s Farm” near Lone Tree, Iowa. With its hallmark eclectic musical lineup, Camp Euforia is turning it up to Eleven. One better.“This year CEXI is for the fans, and we are taking it to 11!” says Eric Quiner, director of Camp Euforia.
After a particularly grueling winter, festivalgoers around the country are dreaming of their summer getaways and for many music fans, this means a breathtaking weekend at Summer Camp Music Festival 2014. What started as roughly a 1,000 person gathering has blossomed into a 7-stage, 15,000 person event that stands as one of the Midwest’s premier festivals today.
Friday January, 24th was a special night at The Vogue Theater with Keller Williams and special guests More then a Little. Indianapolis packed the Vogue that night, the cold weather and three inches of snow didn’t make anyone feel like missing out on this unique event. It was packed wall to wall for the first Keller show in Indianapolis this year, and a great night to hear a little soulful funk.

We are a community of audiophiles who understand the intrinsic value of live music to a point that we have been known to base large chunks of our free time around chasing the perfect show. And yet, how many bands that we see as the cream of the jamband scene were exposed to us through live recordings? Sure, we all had bootlegs in college, but I am sure that most of you started in high school with ‘Skeletons in The Closet’ from Columbia House just like I did.
