Phish

Regarded as a breakout [festival] hit" (New York Times/April 2008), the first annual Mile High Music Festival powered by SanDisk is proud to announce the addition of Jason Mraz, Lupe Fiasco, Mike Gordon, Hill Country Review, Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers, Ferras, The Whigs, and Eric Hutchinson to an already stellar line-up of artists confirmed to perform on July 19th and 20th at the Outer Fields at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.  Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will headline on

There is one thing you cannot say about Phish and that would be they never evolved.  From their quirky and overly energetic days in the early 90s to the deep-rhythm grooves and improvisational mastery of the late 90s, the band was always exploring new avenues to show off their craft.  Those differences are apparent in the two new releases from the Live Phish series, which showcase two amazing concerts in their entirety and reflect two important time capsules from their history.

Festival season!  I love it, and it is almost upon us.  After viewing the initial lineups for some of the big music festivals I couldn't help but notice the large number of indie rock bands that are sneaking their way into what are usually very jam-heavy celebrations.

Years ago when trading cassette tapes of live Phish shows was all the rage, I remember coming across this historic performance and just being in awe of the amazing energy and enigmatic jams heard throughout this show.

The official launch of Page's tour was here in Philadelphia at the World Café Live about a month earlier than this show, and it was broadcasted live for WXPN. I played hooky from work that day to review that show, and on this night I expected many of the same songs from the new self-titled album.

The 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) announces the addition of The String Cheese Incident to the lineup, confirming a Minnesota performance on their summer tour. The Colorado-based group has spent more than a decade making innovative, genre-defying music and will perform two sets at the 10,000 Lakes Festival Friday, July 20 on the Main Stage.

"The String Cheese Incident is thrilled to be returning to 10KLF for the third time and are looking forward to performing in the North Woods once again," says SCI manager Mike Luba.

The only conversation topic welcomed by Page in this era of moving forward was the acknowledgment of being a Philly boy and his birth at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Page carefully deflected every question about Phish and his college thesis writing days at Goddard.

After listening to the mini-album 18 Steps I begun to question Trey Anastasio's choice of track listings for the release Bar 17, his latest studio project distributed this October.  There are some real gems here that probably should have made the cut for the major release, and may have been better received choices that some of the sleepers on Bar 17.

The fourth annual 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) kicked off on a mild Wednesday evening at the Soo Pass Ranch of Detroit Lakes, MN.  The four-day bonanza of music and entertainment has matured into a full-fledged mainstay on the summer tour circuit for headliners and up-and-coming regional acts alike.  While cars rolled in all day and night into Thursday morning, visitors set up their temporary homes, and neighborhoods, with extensive attention to detail evident from the picnic tables, screened porches, tiki torches, hammocks, and other simple plea

We need not recap the 11 year history of this wondrous event, held for five years now at the Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY.  We need no account of the heartfelt and soulful preparation put in by the original "Deadhead Heaven" promoters, Terrapin Tapes and Dupree's Diamond News, to commemorate the life and music of Jerry Garcia.  These details have been covered numerous times in other reports.  All we need is to be here
