Umphrey's McGee is proud to present sUMmer school, a five day summer music camp nestled in the heart of the gorgeous Catskill Mountains at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. sUMmer school is in session August 6 thru 10, 2012, and will offer 150 musicians and music lovers an exploration into the music and inner workings of Umphrey's McGee.Maybe you want to learn how to play with two guitarists in a band? Chicago progressive jam band Umphrey's McGee has been around more than 15 years and recently released its 12th album, "Death by Stereo," and first for Dave Matthews' ATO record label. In all that time, the sextet has developed a visually arresting stage production -- but they've never made a video.Until now. Today the band premieres its first video -- for "Booth Love," one of the first singles released ahead of "Death by Stereo." The video, directed by Travis Rime Brooks, showcases a glorious summer day in Chicago, following three roller-skating sirens through the city, complete with champagne at Wrigley Field.

On Wednesday, November 30th at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas, Digital Tape Machine will take the stage for the first time on the west coast. This will be the first of four shows on the tour. Make sure to tell your friends in Nevada and California about these dates. This time around, DTM will hit Las Vegas, San Diego, West Hollywood, and San Francisco.

OHMphrey, the brainchild of three members of the Chicago-based rock outfit Umphrey's McGee (keyboardist Joel Cummins, guitarist Jake Cinninger and drummer Kris Myers) and OHM guitarist Chris Poland, a legendary player whose perhaps best known for work with headbanging pioneers Megadeth, and bassist Robertino Pagliari (a.k.a. "Pag" ) of OHM. The band toured the Midwest in October with Digital Tape Machine and will join DTM in California for shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Digital Tape Machine, Strange Arrangement, and My Boy Elroy will on the bill all four shows. Strange Arrangement is also from Chicago and will make their first appearance on the West Coast. Strange Arrangement is getting a lot of recognition by touring consistently and making stops at top festivals across the U.S. Two members of Strange Arrangement (Joe Hettinga and Kevin Barry) also play in Digital Tape Machine. The band is currently on their fall tour that is reaching across 14 states.

Experience five days of interactive musical workshops designed for musicians of all skill levels, from aspiring beginner to zen master. We’ll explore how UM writes songs, improvises as a group, and rehearses both individually and collectively. There will be a variety of individual breakout sessions from the entire band & UM organization featuring insight into our business, touring, lighting, recording and more. And Thursday night we’ll rock an awards ceremony, complete with loads of gear giveaways from many UM endorsers. Did we mention there will be an Umphrey's McGee show show every night, followed by an open jam with camp attendees?

In addition, we’ll be offering a slew of non-musical activities ranging from hiking to bags, kickball to BBQing, films to fire pits. It’s the best chance you’re going to have to ask Stasik about his moustache waxing techniques while tipping back a cold one around a bonfire.

Rounding out the weekend is their debut at the historic Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder on Saturday, June 8th. On a crisp October day in 2004, we rolled into the Bay Area for our second show ever at the legendary Great American Music Hall. If you have ever set foot inside those hallowed halls, you understand the “if these walls could talk” feeling that permeates the room. Home to countless legendary performances from Sonny Rollins to the Grateful Dead, the energy is undeniable. Our excitement about that show returns today as we roll out the previously unreleased, re-mastered matrix recording from the vault.

The show featured the debut of “Great American,” with the venue appropriately serving as the song’s namesake. Phil Lesh dropped by and joined in on “Robot World,” as well as the first rendition of “Franklin’s Tower” since 1998. Throw in “Divisions” > “Glory” > “Divisions” and some humorous banter about Blue Öyster Cult and you’ve got classic UM.

Umphrey’s McGee returns to Charleston, South Carolina on September 24 through 26 for the first-ever Chucktown Ball, a three-night run at the Music Farm. As some members of Team UM now call Charleston home, we are excited to rock a triple the only way Umphrey’s knows how. The archival documentary dives deeply into the early years of the band’s existence, culled from hundreds of hours of never-before-seen camcorder footage from the van & trailer days.

A Q&A with Brendan Bayliss (Guitar/Vocals), Jefferson Waful (Director) & Kevin Browning (Creator) will follow the premiere. They will take audience questions about those youthful days on the road and discuss the origins of the documentary. Nothing is off limits.

Couch Tour returns this week with four nights of live Umphrey's McGee from Texas & Oklahoma. Things kick off tonight on 4/20 from Houston and the live HD webcasts continue through Tulsa, Austin & Dallas. Umphrey’s McGee returns to Charleston, South Carolina on September 23rd and 24th for the second iteration of Chucktown Ball at Riverfront Park in North Charleston. Riverfront Park is situated on the beautiful banks of the Cooper River, surrounded by graceful oak trees; this picturesque outdoor setting will be the backdrop for a two-day full blown Umphrey’s McGee event.

Each night, two sets of UM will be preceded by very special guests: Moon Taxi and Dead 27s on Friday September 23rd; and The Floozies, Dangermuffin, and The Hip Abduction on Saturday September 24th. We will also feature local food, libations, and vending, along with a umVIP elevated concert experience (pre-show BBQ, anyone?) and umVIP travel packages featuring hotels smack in the middle of historic downtown Charleston, complete with convenient transportation to and from the show.

Reel to Real is an archival rock documentary about the innovative Umphrey's McGee, diving deep into the early years by examining their inner workings through unreleased band shot camcorder footage. It reflects on UM's days of suspended youth, racking up thousands of miles in a van and trailer without a worry in sight. But reality knocks as a founding member walks away mid tour, putting the entire venture in jeopardy. It's a view behind the curtain, one designed not to paint a picture of what you think it's like, but what it's actually like to make the journey.

With an instrumental version first appearing in the film and the vocal version having debuted live on January 1st, “Gone For Good” continues to evolve. This new rendition is an Umphrey’s hybrid, recorded both live on stage during a sound check and finished in the studio after the fact.

Umphrey’s McGee returns to The Pageant in St. Louis Saturday on Saturday, October 29th and Sunday, October 30th for a raucous mash-up Halloween celebration. In what has become a yearly Umphrey’s Halloween tradition, the band will weave unique musical mash-up concoctions into the two-night run. Expect the unexpected, get your costumes ready, and meet us in St. Louis.

On January 1st, 2016,​ an intimate gathering of the UM faithful descended upon the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver for a rare Storytellers show accompanying the premier of our Reel to Real documentary. Taking time in between songs, we dug deep into the songwriting and lyrical process, shared stories of song origins, and cracked jokes in classic UM fashion. This unique behind-the-curtain performance is now available for the first time, exclusively to subscribers of Qello Concerts.
