My Morning Jacket | Red Rocks Amphitheater | 8/3/12 | Review

Last year My Morning Jacket played a single night at Red Rocks Amphitheater, but as they are becoming more and more of a household name, one night wasn’t enough for this year. The Louisville, Kentucky boys came in strong for the opening night on Friday with a 29-song set. It’s been over a year since the release of their sixth album, Circuital, and as of lately they have shed the “Victory Dance”/Title track opener in favor of a more random choice of opening songs.

- for the Grateful Web

Tell the world. You may submit for an existing column, your own tale, or review an event, interview someone, post your art or animation. Surprise us. Ok, we will give you a "Make Love Not War" T-Shirt too!

The Grateful Web, online since the summer of 1995, averages over 60K full page pulls per month, with solid readership growth over our first 9 years online and still growing (From June through September of 2004 Grateful Web had 1,000,000 hits; WebTrends).

Grateful Web's organic mission of open forum growth includes politics, environment, music, society, the arts (visual, written, theater etc.), and much more.

Grateful Web interviews can run the gamit of society. Some of them happen to be musicians, artists, old soldiers, and Mrs. Johnson next door baking pies, but all have feelings and beliefs on politics & open debate and we welcome it. Grateful Web and our guest(s) are curious about society now and where it's going. It's important to hear unique perspectives of how we choose to engage society and ourselves, from all sides.

Grateful Web next generation Website provides unique blogs for each column,  allowing the next level of open forum. Both and all sides of debate is welcomed; Community has and will remain an integral part of the Grateful Web. As its stewards, we hope to bring Grateful Web members together through honest, humorous and heartfelt communication.

The Grateful web publishes some columns monthly (Grateful Word), newer columns may be spaced 60 days or longer. Music news is as it comes. GW Home's "Grateful Eye" and "Current Events" are updated real time, around the clock, 24 hours a day. First time submissions are open deadline.

Please email photos (No wider the 250 pixels, original photos only) related to your stories.  if you cannot email them, we can make arrangements for snail mailing..

If you aren't familiar with the content, style and tone of the grateful web, first read through a few editorials. Though many seem biased to the left, we still welcome conservative voices. Grateful Web encourages conservatives to express their voices in hopes of productive open discussions. Grateful Right is our running conservative column.

Generally, think about writing for the grateful web as you would a letter to your best friend. This doesn't necessitate a casual style, rather it means that the substance is communicated simply, concise, frankly, and with enthusiasm.

If you are positive about something, be detailed. If you are negative, be constructive. Always begin from the ground up: who, what, where, when, & why...

If your article is already written and any part has been published previously, you must tell us when and by whom. If you do not inform us otherwise, you legally guarantee that we have right to publish. If the article is still in the idea stage (preferred), please contact us before beginning.

Grateful Web (GW) may not be able to publish immediately, though many times it will be within 24 hours assuming it reads well, etc. GW does not pay or exchange advertising for any articles submitted to us for publication. We publish content when it is worth sharing.

Don't expect edits... Your story should be easily read and not too negative or inspiring hatred. Marci Sannes, GW editor, can and may edit your language before or after posting. If she makes changes, you will be alerted. We may change content or facts if they prove different from the initial posting, with note of the change.

In addition, information posted in a public forum could stay in the public domain indefinitely.

Data management requests are administered in an orderly manner to the extent feasible and within our direct control. Note: we have greater control over recently collected data than for archived data. About Us

What is the Grateful Web?

The Grateful Web is all about you:  fans, bands, representatives, venues, stores and everyone in between. We provide the platform and you provide the stories through your reviews, pictures and videos.  Whether you have a single comment to share or a whole lot to say, your contribution is welcomed, as we all improve our lives through sharing experiences and music.  Though the Grateful Dead is no longer around, their legacy remains strong, and we are here to celebrate and explore the world through this lens.

How did it begin?

The Grateful Web was launched in June of 1995 by two brothers in a Wyckoff, New Jersey basement.   Mike Moran had just graduated from college and was commuting from the New Jersey suburbs to New York City, working for his older brother, Barney Moran.   Barney has since gone in a new direction, leaving Mike, the staff and the Grateful Web community to keep on keeping on.

Now, almost 15 years later, our evolution continues. With much help from friends such as Aaron Dietrich, we are the stewards of the Grateful Web.  With your help and continued enthusiastic support, we will keep working to make the experience as personal, rewarding and interactive as possible.

What do you guys do?

We provide a space for music fans of all genres to come together and share parts of their life that interest them.  By visiting the site, you will find the most up-to-the minute band information, concert reviews and press releases, as well as political and environment news. We are your best source for all great music that doesn't fit neatly into any one category. Though the site name itself is based on the Grateful Dead, we are involved in all different genres of music -- like the guys from our namesake, we try to stay just as diverse and open-minded. We follow anything and everything in the spirit left behind by the Grateful Dead… influences, inspirees and more.  The site is as diverse as its users, because it is a direct outgrowth of them...of you.  We let our users build the site, direct the site, and ultimately become the site.

The Grateful Web encourages you to submit your concert reviews, comments, stories, pictures, videos and anything else you would like to share…and share it we will!  We want you to create the site.  We are offering up the tools, but it is up to you to use your creativity and passion to help us tell the story.

And the coolest part...

Since our content is largely user generated, our illustrious writers, photographers, and storytellers are the guys and gals you see at shows.  We're are simply fans of the same shows, the same tunes and same good vibes as you are. We all love the music and the message, and that is why we are here.  When you join our network, not only do you become part of the very first hippie online community, but also part of an organic experiment, sprung from a New Jersey basement in 1995 and morphed into the internet site full of music and life that you see today.
