Grateful Web Interview with Jack Casady on Jam Cruise 2019

When life brings its unexpected twists and turns, some people can emerge at the end of the maze and surprise the world in the most inspiring of ways. Such is the case with singer and songwriter Maya De Vitry, whom following the disbanding of her former band—the highly acclaimed stringband trio The Stray Birds—has emerged with her debut solo album, Adaptations.

Label it what you will, Salvador Santana is a creator.  Handed a generational gift for creating music, he now steps out as a father and as a producer, musician, and artist of his own right.  His new single, Panic Mode is another collaboration unique to the Santana name but in his own direction, it may not sound what you’d expect a Santana song to sound like. Salvador had a few minutes to chat with June Reedy of Grateful Web to discuss the new single Panic Mode and the collaboration with UK house DJ Felix.

Unfolding its surprises as it progresses, Umphrey’s McGee has always been a creative conglomerate designed to peel back the layers of musical expression and re-define the realm of artistic possibilities. At the core of that lies one Ryan Stasik, a father figure and family man by day; a hard-slapping, trailblazing pioneer of a bassist by night.

Grateful Web recently had the honor of speaking with Bill Payne about the upcoming milestone of 50 years of Little Feat in 2019. Payne’s depth as an artist goes much farther than Little Feat’s founding pianist, co-songwriter and vocalist. A photographer, poet, one of the hardest working and best damn American rock musicians since the 1970s.

The young Michigan rock band Greta Van Fleet has been making a splash in the music world over the last few years after extensive festival appearances across the nation and around the world. But the band is on the verge of becoming a household name bolstered by their new album “Anthem Of The Peaceful Army” and an upcoming guest appearance on the Saturday Night Live show.

What do the Hawaiian Islands, white knights, and tin foil hats have in common? Individually, they are immediately something to be curious about. In combination, they represent the boundless imagination and artistry of eclectic musical legend, Todd Rundgren. Rundgren himself is an individual whose life is something to be curious about. Thankfully, he recently released his autobiography, The Individualist: Digressions, Dreams and Dissertations, which documents his life through his 50th birthday. While his prolific career as songwriter, guitarist, and producer spans five decades, he’s not showing any signs of slowing down.

The difference between the songs we feel, as opposed to those we simply hear, is what lies in between.  You can’t help but feel “Edge of Light,” a new studio album by former lead guitarist for Genesis, Steve Hackett.  The album, to be released January 25, 2019, takes the listener on a musical journey with an eclectic assortment of instruments delivering powerful rock and orchestral arrangements.  When the journey ends, you’ll want more.  Fortunately, he’ll b

Longtime favorite of Grateful Web, Steven Graves plays his own style of rock and soul in venues across the West Coast and Mountain States. He’s a guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader who’s always followed his gut instincts when it comes to bringing together a great song. Without leaning heavily on covers, and humble enough to bring in accomplished bandmates who bring a gigantic spectrum of styles and energy.

Many of the world’s visionaries started small, whether it be a simple idea in the basement of their childhood home, or in their local community kicking around ideas with friends and family. The truth is, creating something truly ground-breaking usually begins organically, with the creator not intending to create what it becomes. Particle is just that, a small band based out of Los Angeles, California in 2000, simply experimenting with classic electronic loops from iconic groups like Kraftwerk and applying live instrumentals that inspired them.
