After a surprisingly dry and sunny first day on Mulberry Mountain, Wakarusa is off to a great start. The impending doom of rain made some people prepare a little bit more for this weekend. And maybe they'll have prepared for a reason, because there's rain on the horizon today (Friday).

Blending a unique variety of roots reggae, rock n’ roll, and electronic dub, Minneapolis-based trio Jon Wayne and The Pain brought their signature “Reggae-Tronic Dub” sound to the beautiful grounds of Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois this past weekend for an unforgettable performance at the annual Summer Camp Music Festival.

The Bill Monroe Memorial Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival, winner of the 2013 International Bluegrass Music Association’s IBMA Bluegrass Event of the Year Award, will hold their 48th annual festival June 12-21, 2014. This world famous event, known as the longest continuous running bluegrass festival in the world, will take place at the Bill Monroe Memorial Bluegrass Music Park & Campground in Bean Blossom (Brown County), Indiana.The 10-day festival includes a stellar line-up of the top names in bluegrass music.

Jeff Tweedy, best known as the founder of the pioneering Chicago rock band Wilco, will release a new album Sept. 16 through his own dBpm Records. The album, Sukierae (sue-key-ray), is not quite a solo effort.

Just before Wakarusa breaks over the horizon, Grateful Web sent some questions to Wales-hailing band Rusty Shackle. A self-professed ‘dirty bluegrass folk ‘n’ roll’ band, Rusty Shackle has lots of personality and they’re bringing it to their first U.S. music festival. The 6-piece band features brass instruments, strings, percussion and vocals, not to mention some really awesome covers.

In a career that has spanned nearly two decades, California-based reggae rock band Slightly Stoopid has consistently pushed the boundaries of their respected genre with their seemingly endless tour schedule and eclectic blend of roots, reggae, punk, hip-hop, and funk. Since their self-titled debut release on Skunk Records in 1996, Slightly Stoopid has gone on to sell countless records and play massive shows spanning across the globe including Japan, Australia, Dominican Republic, and Portugal.

For the third year in a row I had the honor to attend one of my favorite events all year.  There is nothing else in this world that can put a smile on my face quite like a familiar Grateful Dead tune can. This year at Dark Star Jubilee was just as beautiful as the last three. I couldn’t have picked a better way to spend my Memorial Day weekend. As I walked through the gates, and to the top of the ridge of the pine trees, I remembered what it was like to feel at home.
