His mastery of American vernacular music as a guitarist and vocalist, fluid in country blues and Dixieland, bluegrass and fingerpicking folk, is widely envied as is his "storied career" (Rolling Stone) that began in the late 60s. Now, the multi-instrumentalist's full range of Americana roots are on display on ‘Only Slightly Mad,’ (September 24, Appleseed) -- an album shot through with an unhinged intensity that is unmistakably Bromberg.

In the world of modern music, few figures loom as large or cast as long a shadow as saxophonist Charlie Parker, best known as “Bird” (short for “Yardbird”) to generations of musicians. He was born in 1920, and almost sixty years since his death in 1955, he is universally celebrated for single-handedly inventing bebop and bringing jazz into the modern era. The Charlie Parker Jazz Festival is an annual salute to the legendary saxophonist.

Three weeks ago Kung Fu’s dear friend Kevin Shea was struck by a drunk driver, and today he lies in a coma with his wife Cecelia and children Jack and Vanessa waiting patiently by his side.
