Red, Gold & Green: Reggae Legends Live at Ruth Williams Opera House

RED, GOLD & GREEN: Reggae Legends Live brings a powerful night of roots, culture, and conscious sound to the historic Ruth Williams Opera House in San Francisco on Saturday, February 21. Presented by ReggaeTownMusic.com, the event unites artists deeply rooted in community, creativity, and the global legacy of Black and Brown music.

The evening features dynamic co-headlining performances by Prezident Brown and Anthony Garvey, alongside a strong supporting cast of artists carrying forward reggae’s timeless messages of unity, uplift, and empowerment.

Headliners – True Jamaican Roots

Prezident Brown (born Fitz Albert Cotterell) has been hailed as “one of the most interesting cultural dee-jays since U-Roy.” Known for his positive, conscious messaging, he pioneered his own approach to vocal expression, which he calls “the chanting stylee.” Born into a Seventh Day Adventist family in Clarendon and raised in Oracabessa, St. Mary, Jamaica, Prezident Brown has spent decades shaping roots reggae with purpose and vision.

Anthony Garvey, a Jamaican roots rock reggae singer, songwriter, and composer, carries a proud lineage as the great-grandson of philosopher and activist Marcus Garvey. His music reflects a lifelong commitment to harmony, cultural awareness, and spiritual grounding. Now based in Northern California, Garvey’s reggae journey spans more than 30 years, blending Rastafari spirituality with timeless Roots Rock rhythms beloved by reggae fans worldwide.

Additional Artists

The lineup is rounded out by a vibrant group of performers including I – Taweh, blending rhythmic innovation with roots energy; Brady Shemar, a rising voice in conscious reggae; Donny Rasta, delivering soulful vibes and commanding presence; and selectors Sir Lion & DJ Hyphee, who embed culture and community into every beat.

The Historic Ruth Williams Opera House

A designated San Francisco landmark and one of the city’s oldest theaters, the Ruth Williams Opera House has long served as a cultural anchor for Black and Brown artists and families in Bayview–Hunters Point and beyond. Since receiving its 501(c)(3) status in 1992, The Ruth has operated as both a performance venue and a community hub, supporting youth development, cultural continuity, and artistic growth amid ongoing displacement and gentrification.

The venue has a strong history of presenting reggae and world music, hosting both local and internationally recognized artists aligned with its mission of cultural exchange and healing through music. Recent programming includes Chilean reggae artist Quique Neira and multiple Afro Latinx Festivals featuring Caribbean and Afro-diasporic artists from the Bay Area and beyond.

The venue’s director notes, “These programs reflect our broader commitment to uplifting global Black and Brown musical traditions while providing a platform where artists can connect meaningfully with community audiences.”

Producers – Reggae Town Music

This event is produced by Reggae Town Music, creators of Reggae Town Music Radio, a 24/7 online reggae station delivering Roots, Conscious Reggae, Dancehall, Dub, and classic Red, Gold & Green vibes worldwide. The organization is also planning a major San Francisco reggae festival, Reggae on the Hill, slated for 2026.
