On Sunday, May 24, Marcus Rezak’s Shred Is Dead returns to the Ivy Room in Albany for a two-set throwdown built for heads looking to stretch out and dive deep into the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band songbooks.
Presented by Mr. Hat, the night carries that classic Bay Area ethos—tight room, open minds, and music that pushes beyond the edges. With no opener and two full sets on deck, this is a full immersion into Shred Is Dead’s signature blend of precision playing and exploratory fire.
Led by guitarist and vocalist Marcus Rezak, Shred Is Dead has carved out a unique lane in the Dead universe, fusing virtuosic guitar work with bold, improvisational takes on familiar material. Known for their “shreddy jams” and ever-evolving lineup, each show feels like a fresh conversation with the catalog.
