The Del McCoury Band has released “Long Enough,” the second advance track from the upcoming Del and the Boys (25th Anniversary Edition), arriving July 10. The song may be heard here: https://found.ee/long-enough
Written by Brink Brinkman and featuring harmony vocals from Lee Ann Womack, “Long Enough” finds Del McCoury delivering one of the most emotionally nuanced performances of his career. The song tells the story of two lovers caught between devotion and obligation, sharing stolen moments together while confronting the reality that their time is never enough.
Built around a melody that feels equally at home in bluegrass and classic country music, “Long Enough” showcases the storytelling depth that helped make Del and the Boys one of the most beloved recordings in the Del McCoury Band catalog. Womack’s harmony vocals add another layer of ache and authenticity to a song that lingers on after the final note.
This tunes continues the celebration of the album’s 25th anniversary, with a re-release of Del and the Boys arriving July 10 on digital platforms and CD. Originally released in 2001, the album captured the band at a creative peak and remains a favorite among fans and musicians alike. Reflecting on the project, Rob McCoury shared: “Del and The Boys! Wow! Hard to believe it’s been 25 years! Time flies! We made this recording at Skaggs Place Studio, Hendersonville Tennessee, it’s an incredible sounding room, as the sound of that recording reflects. I know we had a really good time making this project, I think we were really excited to cut these tunes! Arguably some of the best material we’ve ever had the chance to record! I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it! Sincerely, Rob McCoury.”
The anniversary celebration will continue throughout the year with tour dates across the country, highlighted by a return to Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on August 20. This show will unite the Del McCoury Band and the Travelin' McCourys on Nashville's most coveted stage.
For more than six decades, Del McCoury has remained one of the defining voices in bluegrass music, carrying forward the tradition while continually expanding its reach. Twenty-five years after its original release, Del and the Boys stands as a testament to that legacy.
