Katie Knipp Announces Double Live Album Live at Theater 5150, Out September 18

Award-winning blues/roots-rock independent artist Katie Knipp will release her highly anticipated double live album, Live at Theater 5150, on September 18, capturing the energy, spontaneity and emotional connection that have defined her 25-year career as a performing artist.

Pre-orders on the Katie Knipp Productions imprint are available now on vinyl, compact disc and digital formats at Bandcamp.

Recorded in front of a live audience at Theater 5150, the new album showcases Knipp’s acclaimed songwriting and incomparable vocals, along with her dynamic band, in their natural habitat: the stage. The album includes 13 original songs, as well as Katie’s unique takes on compositions by Bruce Springsteen’s “State Trooper,” Justin Townes Earle’s “If I Was the Devil,” and the Blind Willie Johnson traditional blues, “John the Revelator.”

Katie Knipp, on vocals, piano, guitar and harmonica, and her band — Pancho Tomaselli on bass, Steve Utstein on Hammond B3 and Wurlitzer, Neil Campisano on drums, and Quinn Hedges on lead guitar — will celebrate with an album release show at The Torch Club in Sacramento on October 3 at 9 p.m.

At a time when technology continues to transform how music is created and consumed, Knipp sees this release as a celebration of something that cannot be replicated by algorithms, artificial intelligence, or automation.

“This album is my love letter to live music,” says Knipp. “In a world increasingly driven by AI, this record is a reminder that nothing can replace the experience of human beings gathering together in a room and creating something real. Every note, every cheer, every imperfection, every moment of connection is part of the story.”

Live at Theater 5150, her 10th commercial release, serves both as a gift to longtime fans who have supported Knipp throughout her career, and as an invitation to listeners around the world who may never have the opportunity to attend one of her performances in person.

“I know not everyone can make it to a show,” Knipp adds. “My hope is that this record transports listeners into the room with us. I want them to feel the energy, the joy, the heartbreak, the laughter, and the humanity that happens when musicians and audiences share an experience together.”

Live at Theater 5150 features fan favorites from across Knipp’s catalog alongside powerful live interpretations that highlight the chemistry of her band and the spontaneous magic that only happens on stage. The release also includes inspired performances of songs that have influenced Knipp throughout her musical journey.

A four-time Billboard Top 10 Blues Album artist, Knipp has built a reputation for fearless genre-bending, combining blues, roots, rock, Americana and soul into a sound uniquely her own. Her previous studio album, Me, reached #5 on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart.

As streaming playlists and AI-generated content continue to proliferate, Knipp’s new live album stands as a celebration of authenticity, community, and the enduring power of human creativity.
