SACRED ROSE debuts in Chicago: Phil Lesh, Khruangbin, The War On Drugs, Black Pumas, Umphrey’s McGee & more

To trace the lineage of numerous popular American genres, one only has to turn to the musical history of Chicago and absorb the city’s legacy as a cultural hub of jazz, blues, and rock n’ roll. Now, in honor of The Windy City’s rich background for diverse artistic innovation comes a first-of-its-kind music festival: SACRED ROSE. Organized by the same industry heavyweights who founded North Coast Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, and Suwannee Hulaween, SACRED ROSE will take root at SeatGeek Stadium on August 26 - 28, 2022.

The astoundingly eclectic lineup, a blooming love-letter to the sweet sounds of Americana, Psych-rock, Jam, Indie, Soul, Funk and Bluegrass, will cater towards music heads who crave live performance mastery, with headliners such as Phil Lesh & Friends, Khruangbin, The War On Drugs, Black Pumas, Umphrey’s McGee, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Goose, STS9, Greensky Bluegrass, Kamasi Washington, Animal Collective, Margo Price, and many more.  Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 21 at noon CST.

Look for SACRED ROSE to host three genre-specific stages, with each daily lineup meticulously curated to feel like its own full-length concert. Going against the grain of every other festival announcement, starting Friday, March 18, head to SACRED ROSE’s website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for daily reveals of stage lineups and set times before tickets sales begin on Monday, March 21 at noon CST. Even further to break the traditional festival mold, SACRED ROSE will sell both full weekend and single-day passes on day one.

Pioneering a new frontier of experiential fan transparency, SACRED ROSE believes that fans deserve to know what they’re signing up for. The nascent festival wants #RoseBuds to choose their own musical adventure; psych-rock purists, jam fanatics or Americana devotees can buy single-day tickets to groove at their preferred genre’s stage, while those seeking sonic discovery can spend the weekend careening between a spectrum of sounds and stages. By unveiling full set times and offering both weekend and single day passes, SACRED ROSE’s mission of experiential fan transparency puts the power back in  attendees’ hands to design their own optimal festival experience.

That fan-first foresight stems from SACRED ROSE’s organizers’ decades of experience producing, booking and throwing events across Chicago as well as founding festivals like North Coast, Hulaween, and Summer Camp. Having relocated North Coast to SeatGeek Stadium Campus in 2021 following the venue’s impressive renovation, SACRED ROSE’s organizers know exactly how to execute a successful festival on its own home field. Revelers will bask in the comfort of the Campus’ seven new astro turf fields as they saunter across the sprawling festival grounds and explore large-scale, interactive art installations.

SACRED ROSE is about the love of music, inspired by the halcyon days of the 60s counterculture concerts and playful hippie spirit. The name pays homage to both SACRED ROSE founder Michael Berg’s own professional pianist Grandfather, who instilled his love of music at a young age, and The Grateful Dead, who were the progenitors of this culture; SACRED ROSE will feature performances by the group’s founding member Phil Lesh, as well as the Lesh’s collaborator Joe Russo in his Grateful Dead cover band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead.

“In 2018 when we shifted North Coast from a multi-genre festival to a fully electronic music event, we started dreaming up SACRED ROSE and what it could mean for fans of Americana, Psych-rock, Jam, Indie, Soul, Funk and Bluegrass,” SACRED ROSE Founder Michael Berg says.“SACRED ROSE is the first festival of its kind in our area, and we’re so proud to deliver a special experience for our fans who have been patiently waiting for a lineup like this for a long time.”
