As spring blossoms and the allure of warmer days beckons, thoughts of road trips, starlit nights, and boundless freedom take center stage. Capturing these sentiments in a melodic embrace is "Get Me Where I'm Going," the latest single from Songs From the Road Band.

True to their name, Songs From the Road Band epitomizes the spirit of adventure and camaraderie inherent in a life of travel. Described by Garret K. Woodward of Smoky Mountain News as "a band of melodic pirates," they navigate the highways and byways of Southern Appalachia in pursuit of music, connection, and inspiration.

At the core of their music lies a collaborative ethos, showcased brilliantly in "Get Me Where I'm Going." Bassist and songwriter Charles R Humphrey III, along with fellow Western North Carolina musicians Tommy Maher and Nick Dauphinais, crafted a composition that embodies the essence of a summer evening on the road - campfires aglow, music drifting through the air, and the promise of adventure on the horizon.

Dauphinais reflects on the genesis of the song, stating, "Standing out on the field at a festival in Florida, I thought about how perfect everything was. My former boss Larry Stephenson always said, 'Get Me Where I’m Going!' So thankful to have co-written with my friends Charles Humphrey III and Tommy Maher."

"Get Me Where I'm Going" features the evocative lead vocals of guitarist Sam Wharton, complemented by the soaring harmonies of mandolinist Mark Schimick and fiddler James Schlender. Gabe Epstein's masterful banjo work provides the song's rhythmic foundation, creating a tapestry of sound that transports listeners to the heart of the open road.

Recorded at Asheville's renowned Echo Mountain Recording studio, with assistance from Julian Dreyer, Charlie Chamberlain, and Dave Harris, "Get Me Where I'm Going" embodies the quintessential sound of Songs From the Road Band.

The single will be available for streaming on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
