On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Fox Theatre will be awash in psychedelic color and timeless sound when Boulder’s own Young & Dead headline an immersive “Evening with Young & Dead,” accompanied by the swirling visuals of the JPEG Liquid Light Show. Young & Dead burst onto the local scene in early 2024, when a group of twenty-something friends—bonded by a love of improvisation, live-music culture, and the Grateful Dead—decided to share their interpretation of the Dead’s storied songbook. In just over a year the band has earned a loyal following throughout Boulder for shows that pair faithful musicianship with youthful spontaneity, turning classic Dead jams into fresh communal celebrations.
For this special Fox Theatre performance, the band is teaming up with the JPEG Liquid Light Show, whose analog oil-lamp projections and modern digital artistry will bathe the stage in kaleidoscopic motion. The union of Young & Dead’s high-energy sets and JPEG’s vivid visuals promises an atmosphere reminiscent of the late-’60s ballrooms—one where seasoned Deadheads and brand-new fans can dance shoulder to shoulder.
