Crowd Company, the critically acclaimed 8-piece funk soul outfit, has confirmed details on their upcoming album Stone & Sky, due out October 20th on the newly minted indie imprint Vintage League Music (VLM), founded by Soulive’s Alan Evans. The eleven-track album is also produced by Evans at the infamous Iron Wax Studio in Millers Falls, MA and will be available on vinyl, CD, and digitally. Three 7-inch vinyl singles will also be released featuring songs from the upcoming album and distributed by Fat Beats.

LA-based musician (and current touring member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band) Carey Frank will be releasing his second album as a bandleader, Something to Remember Him By, on Tuesday, November 7.
Self–produced by Carey Frank, Something to Remember Him By is a unique duo album consisting solely of Frank’s Hammond organ (substituted on two tracks by melodica) and guitar courtesy of veteran jazz player Bruce Forman. This format deviates from the standard organ trio instrumentation of Hammond, guitar and drums.

Acclaimed guitarist Peter Parcek announces an October 27 release date for Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, his first album in seven years, on Lightnin’ Records. The new disc was produced by Marco Giovino (Robert Plant, Buddy Miller, Tom Jones), who also played drums and percussion on the sessions. Special guests on Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven include North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson, legendary Muscle Shoals keyboardist Spooner Oldham and long-time Willie Nelson harmonica wiz Mickey Raphael.

It was a rainy autumn night in Minneapolis, and a quiet hung loudly in the air. A get-home-and-stay-in-your-PJs kinda feel, one would never suspect a dance party to be brewing. But there sure was. The Twin-Cities based seven piece, PHO, was slated to hit the stage at First Avenue’s 7th Street Entry, and with opening acts like Black Market Brass and Purple Funk Metropolis, the crowd was in for a local funk trifecta.
