The latest audio treasure to be excavated from Frank Zappa’s vast and legendary vault, Zappa/Erie, brings together an exciting trio of shows that the Maestro performed in Erie, Pa. and the surrounding area between 1974-76. Due June 3 via Zappa Records/UMe, the new six-disc boxed set/digital collection contains more than seven hours of unreleased, electrifying live performances from Zappa and three different lineups of incredible musicians from this peak period.

While it may not be the first time any of the five members of GRAMMY-winning bluegrass group The Travelin’ McCourys have proclaimed their affection for the world’s favorite carbonated adult beverage, it’s certainly the first time they’ve sung about it on record. Out today, the McCourys’ new cover of Tom T. Hall’s “I Like Beer” is an uptempo waltz fit for summer music festivals, loose, late-night sing-alongs, and Oktoberfest beer halls alike.

Today, Jack White has released his first of two new albums this year, FEAR OF THE DAWN, available everywhere now via Third Man Records. White’s second new album of the year, ENTERING HEAVEN ALIVE, will follow on July 22. Much to the excitement of Gentle Giant fans worldwide, the band’s final album “Civilian” remastered CD will be released on May 20, 2022! The vinyl LP release of the album will follow later in the year. Gentle Giant’s “Civilian”, was originally released in the spring of 1980, a little over a decade after the bands’ formation. The album was to be the band’s swan song after ten studio albums and one double live album in the ten years of their existence.

The album was released on Friday, April 8.

By this point in time, it has become clear that not everything about the pandemic was a bad thing. We’ve seen some amazing art projects to come out of the weeks that we were all forced into isolation. In the case of the city of Toronto, the newly formed band The Pawn Shop was born out of this era.
The Pawn Shop is made up of musicians who are known both locally and internationally - Phil Tessis and Jaime Rosenberg of the Canadian band After Funk, along with Rob Christian (Larnell Lewis Band), and Alan Zemaitis.

Michael “Fat Mike” Burkett, the bass player, singer, and maestro of NOFX, brought his punk-rock circus and beer festival mashup to the Ventura County Fairgrounds on March 27th. The festival was conceived by Burkett and his friend Cameron Collins as sort of a Vans Warped Tour for adults. Collins, already a successful promoter of beer festivals, may not like that characterization as his vision was more of an intimate event with no more than one band playing at any given time.
