The Flusters, hailing from nearby Palm Desert, CA, made their Joshua Tree Music Festival debut on October 10, 2019, with their post-sundown set on the Boogaloo Stage.  Their live performance offers a bit of a time warp, from the black suits and two-toned shoes to the surf guitar meets 80’s synth blend, The Flusters offer a live music experience unlike anything you will have seen before, a kind of vintage psychedelic sock-hop synth party.  Lead signer Dougie VanSant Jr.

Grateful Web had the chance to chat with Cody Diekhoff, better known as Chicago Farmer.  He will be playing his first headlining show at City Winery Chicago on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 with special guest Althea Grace opening the show for him.  His style can best be described as a folk artist with a bold talent for storytelling.

This month, Tulsa jazz fusion outfit Henna Roso released their debut record, Feed The Hungry (Horton Records), with an album release celebration where they not only performed new material, but  held a food drive in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma--which pushed them to over 91,000 meals raised since they formed in 2016.

This year, Larry Keel released a new album, One, played numerous festivals, and collaborated with a handful of fellow musicians, including Tyler Childers, Billy Strings, and The Travelin' McCourys.

This year, Rising Appalachia released a new album, Leylines, played numerous festivals, and did good work for the world. On August 25, 2019, Rising Appalachia will continue that good work in Northwest Arkansas during the Fayetteville Roots Festival.

We got in touch with Chloe Smith just ahead of the band's Roots Festival appearance to learn how music connects to the deepest parts of their human-ness.

Inside Out is the new album by Bernard Fowler, a man who is Mick Jagger in his own right.  After touring as backup vocals with The Rolling Stones since 1989, Inside Out takes his own perspective of hand-selected Rolling Stones songs. Driven by percussion and spoken word poetry, this disc is a must-have for Rolling Stones fans as well as fans of salsa, spoken word, soul, and R&B.

GW: When you first started playing the dobro what were the emotions that you felt? Was it love at first note?

Park City Songwriters Festival is an event for storytellers—providing an intimate music experience with some of the world’s most profound songwriters across five venues in Park City, UT on September 13 & 14th. There will be workshops, panels, songwriters in the round & concerts each night from headliners like Anders Osborne, Marc Broussard & North Mississippi Allstars.

To celebrate the release of The Hip Abduction's new record To the Ends of the Earth (available Aug. 9, pre-order here), the band answered a few questions for Grateful Web. We discussed everything from finding their sound to exploring our country's National Parks. The band has heavy touring ahead so be sure to catch them when they are in your city.
