Aoife O’Donovan

Folk Alliance International (FAI), the foremost global nonprofit for folk music and the producers of the International Folk Music Awards (IFMAs), announced this year’s upcoming recipients and Best of 2022 nominees.

Last night, Aoife O'Donovan —who is nominated for 3 GRAMMYs this year for her album Age Of Apathy —was joined by Allison Russell for a performance of their song "Prodigal Daughter" on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. It's a stunning performance of a track nominated for Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots Song, watch it here.

Aoife O’Donovan — who was just nominated for three 2023 GRAMMY Awards for her 2022 album Age Of Apathy — shares an intimate acoustic version of “Age Of Apathy” (produced with Darren Schneider). The performance is essential Aoife: delicately expressive phrasings, instinctive accompaniment, and the elemental power of that voice cast against sparse instrumentation.

As a 30+ year Del McCoury Band member and a founding member of the Travelin’ McCourys, fiddle player Jason Carter has made a lot of friends and fans throughout his heavily-awarded career. But never before have all of his friends, from all of the years, joined Carter for his own solo album. That is, until now.

Today, Aoife O’Donovan shares the Olga Bell Remix of “B61,” a track from her recently released and critically acclaimed album, Age of Apathy. Listen/share here.

Philadelphia Folk Festival has announced the initial lineup for its 60th anniversary event taking place August 18-21, 2022 at its idyllic home, Old Pool Farm, just north of Philadelphia. The weekend-long celebration will include headlining appearances from hip-hop fusion mavericks Michael Franti & Spearhead, Punch Brothers (reviving their celebrated American Acoustic ensemble featuring Americana heavyweights Watchhouse and Sarah Jarosz), and Americana-soul sensations The War and Treaty.

Today, Aoife O’Donovan stars in an all new NPR Tiny Desk that features the GRAMMY- and Americana Award-winning singer and songwriter performing songs from her acclaimed, Joe Henry-produced (Bonnie Raitt, Rhiannon Giddens) new album Age Of Apathy. As ever, the performance is filled with “musical surprises: daring melodic leaps, unexpected chord progressions, [and] subtle rhythmic shifts” (NY Times).

Like so many parents with young children, Aoife O’Donovan listens to lots of children’s movie soundtracks. Today, however, she pays tribute to one of her new favorites with a special cover version of “What Else Can I Do?”, the Lin-Manuel Miranda-penned original song from Disney’s Encanto.

GRAMMY-nominated singer, songwriter and musician Gregory Alan Isakov will kick off his spring headline tour next month with shows at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, Milwaukee’s Pabst Theater, Detroit’s Royal Oak Music Theatre, Atlanta’s The Tabernacle and two nights at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium among many others. Tickets for the tour, which will feature special guests Joe Purdy and Aoife O’Donovan, are on-sale now.

Aoife O’Donovan shares Age Of Apathy (Yep Roc Records), an acclaimed new album produced by GRAMMY-winner Joe Henry (Bonnie Raitt, Rhiannon Giddens).
