Bill Nershi

As a relative newcomer to Colorado, I've been waiting to find a festival than can live up to the wonderful Arkansas festivals I've come to know and love over the years. I can definitely say I've found just such a festival high in the mountains at Rancho Del Rio, YarmonyGrass.

Town Mountain almost rocked the building strait off  the mountain side when they played at the Gold Hill Inn last night.  Before the show started I spoke to some people at the bar who said they had traveled all the way from Oklahoma that day to catch Town Mountain.

I hear a lot of people bust on the fans of String Cheese Incident.  Have you had the same experience?  It’s weird..

Strong winds from the west blew across a dirt parking lot… people tuck their heads, pulling their hats tighter to their skulls as they struggle against the wind, walking towards a dusty, rock strewn patch of earth… getting closer, t-shirts and the tarps they are laid out on struggle to stay grounded as their owners try to protect their wares from the dust… Girls in ruffled tutu’s and fishnet stockings are re-thinking their outfit choices in light of the chill the wind brings with it- but dust and wind are commonplace occurrences for these veteran Colorado concert goers… rocks brought along

Colorado newgrass icons Drew Emmitt and Bill Nershi break away from their well-known respective groups, Leftover Salmon and String Cheese Incident, and return to their roots to form an exciting project that melds original bluegrass standards with progressive jamgrass flavors.  With an excellent supporting cast in tow, this album is a must-own for any fan of the string band genre.

He's been known to show a mandolin and viola who is boss, while still keeping his humble frontman persona intact. A modest yet instrumentally explosive enigma, Drew Emmitt captures the attention of the audience as if they were a herd of famished field mice lured in by a hefty corncake crumb.

The Grateful Web was on-hand at last night's Emmitt Nershi Band show at the Boulder Theater.   We have some pictures and videos clips from the show.  Thanks to the folks at the Theater for their warm hospitality.

Enjoy,

Drew Emmitt (Leftover Salmon) & Billy Nershi (String Cheese Incident) teamed up last night to play a show at the Boulder Theater.  Grateful Web was on-hand to snap some photos.  There will be some changes to the pictures, as unfortunately I uploaded them last night without changing all vertical pictures to be right side up, so my apologies...
