As Dark Star Orchestra steadily marches towards 3000 shows performed, continuing the celebration of the music of the Grateful Dead since 1997, today the band announces its New Year’s Eve run along with a dozen and a half additional dates tacked on to the Fall Tour.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to share my very first Northwest String Summit experience with you all. I will do my best to honor this festival’s long history, while explaining my first experience, not only with this festival but at Horning's Hideout. This festival is in its 18th year here in Oregon, and it’s hard to think of another festival in such a serene location. That’s a whole generation of people growing up in this festival, which is something very unique and beautiful.

The Grateful Dead is such majesty and completeness that when a great version of it comes along, the vibes come along too.  Dark Star Orchestra has been recreating Grateful Dead sets for over 20 years now. On 7/5/2019, DSO performed their own tailored setlist to a beautiful evening at River Edge Park Aurora.

With 3000 shows in sight (currently at 2904 shows performed), Dark Star Orchestra today announces the plans for the first leg of Fall Tour 2019 launching September 27 in Chicago followed in quick order by returns to Milwaukee, Madison, and Minneapolis.

In just a couple of months, on July 18-21, North Plains, Oregon will see the return of one of the country’s premier bluegrass and roots music festivals, Northwest String Summit. Hosted every year by presiding band Yonder Mountain String Band, the four-day event will see top-billing sets from other veteran performers like The Infamous Stringdusters and Trampled By Turtles, as well as invite newcomers from across the musical spectrum, like Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Dark Star Orchestra, Galactic and more.
