The count down for Dark Star Jubilee has begun. In less than one month, deadheads of all ages will gather at Legend Valley, Ohio for a celebration of the Grateful Dead. This festival is over Memorial Day weekend, May 22-24th in Thornville, Ohio, it will be my fourth year covering this festival, and I cannot wait!

Mill Valley’s Sweetwater Music Hall is one of Marin County, California’s select venues that is keeping the classic bay area jam-rock community connected. Many recall that Marin County was where every member of Grateful Dead had migrated to by the early 1970s for much needed solitude and separation from their iconized significance as the rock titans of Haight/Ashbury.

The theme for the 2014 Wild Wild West Fest evokes the of the American Western Frontier, which tells the story of creating and defending communities, use of the land, development of markets, and state formation. It also evokes the disputation of conquest, survival, persistence, and the merging of peoples and cultures, which gave birth to and helped continue lfe in the U.S.
