Turkuaz

Catskill Chill is a music festival held towards the end of the summer music festival season. Most people are burnt out, broke, or unable to take anymore time off to attend another music festival. If you had an excuse for why you couldn’t attend this year’s Catskill Chill at New Minglewood, you won’t be making those same excuses next year after learning about their extremely successful transition to a new campground.

Waking up from the tour opener of a massive Fall Tour in Fort Collins, CO last night, Britain’s The New Mastersounds and Brooklyn’s Turkuaz are pleased to debut the music video for the latter’s cover of prior’s song “On the Border”.  The tune serves as one side of a Split 7” EP that both groups collaborated on.  The record features both bands performing a cover song from the other artist's catalog, while also joining in on the collaboration.

On the heels of beginning an extensive nationwide Fall Tour with The New Mastersounds, Turkuaz is pleased to announce The Ball Drop, their annual New Years event.  The two night event is being brought to Fete Ballroom in Providence on December 30 and 31.  Joining the festivities as support will be Moon Hooch on December 30, and Kung Fu and West End Blend on December 31.

Winding down a busy summer within the festival circuit, including performances at Mountain Jam, High Sierra Music Festival, Peach Music Festival, and coming up on a much anticipated debut appearance at Lock’n Festival,  Brooklyn’s Turkuaz is announcing a large scale co-headlining Fall 2016 tour with British funk band The New Mastersounds.

This funk show was one of the most powerful shows that I have ever seen. Turkuaz is the best and hottest funk band in the world at this moment. There is no doubt in my mind. The Nth Power is not very far behind them in their mastery of their cross genre collaborative. Both of these bands days of playing in small venues like the Fox Theater in Boulder, are numbered.

Dave Brandwein and his eight bandmates are running coast to coast and daring you to keep up. Turkuaz is enjoying its most successful tour to date behind a conceptual album filled with nods to eighties babies and the high velocity funk they’ve come to embody.

Folks checking out Turkuaz this week will find a slightly modified band: front-man, guitarist and co-founder Dave Brandwein has been sidelined with either a tendon or nerve issue that has affected his right hand since the band’s May 2 date at Howlin’ Wolf during New Orleans Jazz Fest. Turkuaz is bringing close friend and Dopapod keyboardist, Eli Winderman, in to fill out Turkuaz’s normally very big sound.

Z2 Entertainment is proud to present Turkuaz & Springdale Quartet at the Fox Theatre on Thursday, January 09th, 2014. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, November 15th at 12:00pm for $10 advanced or $12 day of show. The Brooklyn-based funk army known as Turkuaz “is like tossing a lit match into a dumpster full of fireworks” (bestnewbands.com).
